Back to Nature Ecotourism Questions & Answers

Toronto, Canada

I heard you have to walk into town for 45 mins to 60 mins that's not a problem. What about our luggage? Do they transfer your luggage or do you have to carry it yourself? We are traveling with a child of 10 yrs old and we will have bunch of suitcases.

Upon arrival porters are provided free of charge, upon departure you can either take a fun tube raft down to the village for 10€ per person incl. luggage or ask our staff to order a porter for IDR 75.000/each who can carry 1 big suitcase/bag for you

Hi Siva

On our arrival there were locals already waiting for us to help us with the luggage. They had been organised by Back to Nature Lodge. We only had our backpacks, so we could have managed on our own. Still, with the heat and the trail somewhat slippery in certain places, we really welcomed the locals' help. I recommend you play it safe and explain the situation to your contact at Back to Nature. We found that they are very customer-orientated and reliable (as during our entire trip in Sumatra, by the way) and will do their utmost to help you. Sorry for the delayed answer and wish you a great stay.

They carry your luggage. You will walk through a small village then 4 km along a river. It takes maybe 30 minutes if you walk slowly. There was a couple with a very young baby doing it when we were there. It’s more of a river walk than a hike.

They carry it for you - just try and arrive before dark

It is worth staying close to town and going in the daylight
