I'm going this November with my mom and daughter. Can anyone tell me what type of shape someone needs to be in for the ziplines ? My mother is in very poor shape, she has to use handrails to go down stairs and takes regular breaks on walks. I was planning on her not doing the ziplines with us, but would really like to be better informed before we go. She would enjoy them, I'm just unsure if she could do them.
By reading your description I think your mother would better enjoy one of our natural exhibits rather than the Canopy Tour as there are some walks that need to be taken inside the forest and some are a bit steep. You don't need to be in the best shape to do the canopy tour but you do need to be able to walk on your own and withstand some strain.
Perhaps she could enjoy our hummingbird garden, butterfly garden, museum or reptile and amphibian exhibition or a combo on those while you take the canopy tour. These are guided tours so she will not be alone and might enjoy the scenery while the rest of your group does the canopy tour.
I hope this helps and have you at our park in November.
I would agree, this doesn't sound the sort of thing for your mother. Some of the sky bridges will be suitable for wheelchair access, so I would check before-hand.
There wasn't a great deal of walking or climbing on the zip line tour...if you did all of the lines. I think the super man lines and the Tarzan swing are a little rough on your body physically (I had some bruising from the harness on the super man line). If you skip them, then there is a significant climb back up to the center. I would say you need to be in fair shape to really enjoy the experience. I hope you get to enjoy the adventure!
