Flying to Havana

The port city of Havana is the capital of Cuba and one of the largest cities in the Caribbean. The city is an architectural montage of old buildings, public squares, narrow alleyways and palaces all in close proximity of each other.

Havana’s combination of beaches, history, beautiful architecture and culture makes it a great place to visit. Visitors typically enjoy exploring the old section of the city and walking down the Malecon, a beachfront walkway.

Havana is home to a few great museums offering exhibits about Cuba’s history and revolution. The Museo de la Revolución is one of the most popular.

Nightlife in Havana is full of music and dancing, whether it is in the streets, a night club, or a concert venue.

For the adventurer, the Bellamar caves are a great day trip opportunity.

The main international airport in Cuba is Havana’s Jose Marti International Airport (airport code HAV). It was formerly called El Rancho Boyeros International Airport. The airport is a hub for the Cuban airline Cubana de Aviación as well as Aerocaribbean.

There are more than 30 airlines running flights out of Havana’s airport, although flights from the airport are very infrequent compared to other international airports. COPA, Air France, Cubana de Aviacion, Mexicana de Aviacion and LAN Chile fly the most out of the carriers, but none fly more than once per week on average.
