Flying to Province of A Coruna

A Coruña is a city of just under 420,000 inhabitants in north-western Spain abutting the Atlantic Ocean. Most tourists as well as inhabitants enjoy the coastline on the 10 kilometre long promenade that runs along the beach.

The most popular beaches for the city are Riazor and Orzán and attract tourists, locals and surfers.

A Coruña has multiple great museums including the Science Museum, Castillo de San Antón and Casa del Hombre.

Plaza de María Pita is in the middle of the old section of the city. The oldest attraction, however, is the Tower of Hercules, an old lighthouse overlooking the peninsula that is now a UNESCO world heritage site.

Getting to A Coruña is fairly easy by bus, car, train and plane. Motorway AP9 runs directly out of the city to the south. It makes bus travel and car travel very easy. Trains leave for Barcelona, Madrid and other regional stations daily.

Previously called Alvedro Airport, A Coruña Airport (airport code LCG) is relatively small as it serves five airlines. It is only about seven kilometres outside of A Coruña, has one runway, and saw more than one million passengers in 2009.

Flights leave to Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Valencia , Zaragoza, Lisbon, Amsterdam, London-Heathrow, Seville and Tenerife South. The Amsterdam service will end before November, 2010.
