Regarded as the capital of the Scottish Highlands, Inverness is Europe's fastest growing city and the centre of the Scottish Gaelic Renaissance, a movement to restore the language.
Located 13 kilometres northeast of the city, Inverness Airport (INV) handles less than one million passengers each year. The airport serves as a hub for the Scottish Isles. FlyBE, EasyJet, and British Airways operate the most flights from Inverness.
Each September Inverness hosts the Northern Meeting, a prestigious individual bag piping competition.
Visit the Inverness Museum and Art Gallery located on Castle Wynd to learn about the history and culture of the Scottish Highlands.
A great excursion from the city centre, is a cruise on Loch Ness where tour operators will give an overview of the history of the Loch and 'Nessie' the Loch Ness Monster.
