Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam and has been predicted to have the highest real GDP until around 2025. It is a fascinating mix of East Asian and Western cultures, as it was occupied by the French government for period of time in the late 19th century and first half of the 20th century.

Hanoi is home to some incredible Southeast Asian architecture, including the Temple of Literature and the Ngoc Son Temple. Visitors can also spend time at various lakes and parks in and outside of the city. Hoan Kiem Lake, West Lake, and Lenin Park are popular local hangout areas and are nice places to spend an afternoon.

To get to Hanoi, most travellers fly into Noi Bai International Airport (Airport code HAN), the main airport for Hanoi. The airport itself if around 45 kilometres from the city, but travel can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour depending on traffic.

Around 30 airlines fly regularly scheduled routes into or out of Noi Bai International Airport. Vietnam Airlines flies the most frequently, about ten times as much as the next most frequent carrier, China Airlines. Delta, Cathay Pacific, and Jetstar Pacific also fly regularly to Noi Bai. Vietnam Airlines flies to the most destinations from Noi Bai as well.
