Lake District Lovers

29 Jun 2007  I live in Kendal and know the area well. There are many excellent restaurants and pubs in Kendal and surounding area. Endless walks round lakes and up mountains and hundreds of tourist attractions within a 20 mile radius.

A perfect weekend based in Kendal.
Day 1
Arrive by mid afternnon and enjoy walking around the old yards and Shambles in the pedestrianised shopping centre and perhaps a walk up to Kendal Castle. Check out The Brewery Arts Centre for what's on during your stay. First night dinner at 1 Bridge Street an excellent restaurant close to the town centre.
Day 2
After a good nights sleep and delicious breakfast at a good B&B take the 11 lakes tour driving from Kendal via Windermere, Keswick, Buttermere, Bassenthwaite returning to Kendal via Ullswater. A circular drive bringing you back to Kendal after seeing at least 11 lakes and 2 passes. 2nd night dinner at The New Moon restaurant lovely food in a relaxed atmosphere.
Day 3
Time for a good walk take in the views from Scout Scar just outside Kendal where you get a fantastic panoramic view from the Lake District mountains to the Yorkshire Dales and on to the sea at Morcambe Bay. Alternatively climb a mountain or visit one of the many tourist attractions within a short drive of Kendal. Lunch or dinner in the Weatsheaf at Brigsteer, a Lake District pub serving mouthwatering food.
