  • 1. Venice San pietro di Castello
    http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basilica_di_San_Pietro_di_Castello

This church has been as important as the world famous one (San Marco Basilica / symbol of Venice) for more than 400 years!
The area of San Pietro di Castello is lovely and quiet. Still a popular side full of venetians.

It is easily reachable from the ARSENALE water ferry stop, walking through one of the widest and characteristic streets of Venice :Via Garibaldi).

Don't miss the popular feast of San Pietro di Castello early in June: traditional music and fried fish perfect evenings and real venetian life!

  • 2. Naval History Museum (Museo Storico Navale) & Arsenale
    Naval History Museum Venice, Venice

"The gondola is not just a boat. It is a dynamic system in which the boat, the water [the artisans who create it] and the gondolier participate..” - el felze thanks!
Let’s forget that the gondola ride is probably the most touristy activity in Venice nowadays and think on it’s poetry and on its glorious past!
Inside the Naval Museum you can find part of this history and original boats who made the maritime story of venice throughout the centuries..

  • 3. Al Galeon
    Al Galeon, Venice

A cosy restaurant in the popular via garibaldi (Castello). Frequented by venetians, this place serves probably the best fresh fish dishes in town, still at a reasonable price. They have a starting menu at 30 euro with a good selection of the most appreciated venetian specialities. Ask for Donatello or Sergio and feel free to say you’ve been recommended by Michele (Me!) at Venicedetour: they’ll surely even more kind with service and price!
