14 Jun 2006  Travel nut from New Jersey (who wouldn't be living in New Jersey?)

After a vacation return a week prior the travel itch had not been cured. I decided to venture off to Baltimore's Inner Harbor. Put a pillow on your computer chair and get ready for the ride.

  • 1. Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor at Camden Yards
Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor at Camden Yards, Baltimore, Maryland

I STOLE THE MATTRESS!!!!!!! Ok well I really didn't but wanted to. I would have thrown it out the window since carrying it through the lobby might have been obvious (ya think?). But, my room faced the front of the building and killing a pedestrian for a mattress, I decided, was not worth it after many hours of thought over this dilemma. (yes i had to think about it) The staff at this hotel is awesome and the rooms are spotless but the bedding is to die for. Everything is goose down including the pillows and duvet cover. A lot of geese did not fly south for my enjoyment here. I slept like in a coma.

  • 2. American Visionary Art Museum
American Visionary Art Museum, Baltimore, Maryland

You are going to want to take pictures but cameras are not allowed. This place is accross the harbor and across the street from the Rusty Scupper. Walk it or take a water taxi. There is a sizable ship made out of 190 thousand toothpicks (made my teeth hurt just looking at it). There is also a booth that photos your face and shows you what you would look like in many other ethnic groups. I must say I was hot in all of them and my dad would not have to give up too many chickens and cows to get me married off.

  • 3. Irish Restaurant I Cannot Remember Name Of...(clue: it was Irish)

OK..You cannot miss it. It was on the Harbor in front of the water taxi and had an Irish name starting with an N. The sheppards pie and fish and chips are to die for and obviously the drinks are too or I would remember the name of the damn place. I think I was doing a river dance by the time they told me how to pronounce it.

  • 4. Baltimore Aquarium
    Baltimore, Maryland

Here is a big tippy! Get there early or you will melt in the sun like the bad witch in wizard of OZ. The lines are long but inside you will see a great stingray and shark pond and a cool rainforest.

  • 5. Fell s Point

I stayed at the Fell's Inn for one night cause I was hoping to get haunted by a ghost...they are famous for ghost stories. Unfortunately I stopped in at the "Horse you Rode in on" bar steps away before bedtime and so much fun at this quaint place my spirit breath must have rode off the spirits. There is much to do in Fell's including killer breakfast at Blue Moon Cafe and tourist things such as the oldest house in Baltimore which was being rennovated while we were there to spoil it and include an automatically wiping toilet or something like that

  • 6. Rusty Scupper
    Rusty Scupper, Baltimore, Maryland

If you are going for the food bring mallomars and fritos and wolf them down on the way in. The food is not great but the view is magnificent. They are rennovating the upstairs bar and it is well worth the visit.

  • 7. Mount Vernon
Mount Vernon Cultural District, Baltimore, Maryland

This is just a short cab from the Inner Harbor. The restaurants are all ethnic and fantastic..especially Indian and Greek. When you are over the Inner Harbor view dine here.

  • 8. USS Constellation
Historic Ships in Baltimore, Baltimore, Maryland

This is a ship on the water with 4 or 5 levels. Here you can see where the captain had great quarters and even a toilet that had a window looking out at the sea while everyone else on board had to work their hineys off and sleep in lower deck hammocks for his convenience.......that pompous arse!

  • 9. Science Museum

At the inner harbor this is great for kids or a very immature husband. Or great for the planetarium aspect for wives who want to view first hand where their husband came from.
