Jessica B's City Tips

  • It is customary to tip 10% for sit-down meals. However some restaurants will add this automatically to your bill under "service charge." Be sure to check to avoid tipping twice!
  • Many of the restaurants in this guide are in the city centre and easy to reach by foot.
  • For restaurants a bit further out, you can hop on the tram, train or bus. Consider investing in a One Day or Seven Day Travel Card, as this will save you money.

If you’re after traditional Great British food then look no further than Beef and Pudding. With a menu packed full of the usual favourites – from beer-battered fish and chips to lamb stew, and of course, roast beef – there is something for everyone here. While there are also several delicious vegetarian options, this one is predominantly for meat-lovers.

This is not your typical Indian restaurant, least of all because its menu is completely vegetarian. Truly authentic and using top-quality, fresh ingredients, the menu provides something for all tastes. From mild and creamy to hot and sizzling, this restaurant sets the bar for Indian restaurants in the city.

A relative newcomer to the Manchester restaurant scene, Allotment certainly lives up to its name. The unique interior, made to look like the inside of a garden shed, complete with potted plants on the wall, gives the place a quirky yet homey feel. Whether you’re starving or just in the neighbourhood for a light snack, there's sure to be something on the menu for you.
