Matthew H's City Tips

  • Most beaches, especially resort beaches, are easily accessible by the “Global” buses. However, some are trickier to get to and best reached by hire car or even on foot.
  • Nude beaches are not uncommon on Gran Canaria: You will find a mix of dedicated nudist beaches, standard beaches with nudist sections, and remote beaches where nudism is tolerated.
  • If you eat at a casual restaurant near the beach, it's acceptable to be dressed in beachwear, but it's a good idea to wear a T-shirt to cover up.

Arguably Spain's greatest urban beach, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria's Playa de Las Canteras attracts scuba divers, surfers, and sunseekers alike.

Dunas Maspalomas are magnificent, and Maspalomas beach is the second-longest on the island after Las Canteras - 2,710 metres, and 10 metres longer than neighbouring Playa del Ingles. There's plenty of room for everyone, with those seeking more privacy heading into the dunes.
