Lives in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain

35-49 year old
I'm a journalist/blogger who's been residing in the totally tropical city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria since 2004. The capital is a great base to cover Gran Canaria for my blog, Gran Canaria Local. I've also visited the rest of the islands including Lanzarote and Tenerife to write features for magazines like Living Spain and newspapers such as The Independent.

With thrills and spills for all ages, Aqualand Maspalomas offers fun for the whole family.
This adventure park, a giant playground themed after the popular video game Angry Birds, is sure to tire your little ones out.
Gran Canaria is a great island to hike. This trek - from the car park at La Goleta to the iconic rock Roque Nublo - is one of the less taxing on the island, making it great for families of all ages.
Smaller than Aqualand, this saltwater waterpark is still definitely worth a visit. What it lacks in attractions it also lacks in queue length, so you can take many turns on the rides.
This botanical garden and aviary allows kids to get up close and personal with animals, especially those of the feathered variety.
'Edutainment' at its finest, the Cueva Pintada (Painted Cave) presents Gran Canaria's pre-Spanish history in a fun way.
The sun doesn't shine as brightly in the north of the island, so this museum in the capital is a great rainy-day escape for kids frustrated that the beach has become a no-go zone.
The Wild West is closer than you think! Some of the most famous Spaghetti Westerns were filmed on Gran Canaria, and the film sets have been turned into a theme park that the whole family can enjoy.
Go-karting tracks for all ages means that you're never too young or too old to dream of breaking circuit records.
Follow in the footsteps of Christopher Columbus at Casa de Colon in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The great explorer visited this property, now a major cultural center, on his way to discovering America in 1492.
