I have included this venue in my guide due to its unique location. Right on the harbour's edge on the Opera House promenade opposite the international cruise ship terminal and the bridge. It doesn't get any better for views and the food is also excellent.
Everything you have ever read or seen about the opera house does not do it justice. Seeing is believing, the most gorgeous building ever!!
This pub promotes itself as the oldest in Sydney which smacks of the truth, it is a very old pub by Australian standards. Excellent foods and fabulous micro brewed beers
Because all the world loves an Irish pub and this is a good one, just up the road from the hustle and bustle of Darling Harbour and well worth the 2 minute walk
Lovely old hotel fantastically re-furbished pretty much in the centre of the Sydney CBD, easy walk to Circular Quay, The Rocks and very close to Darling Harbour and Kings Street Wharf
Stroll around the oldest part of Sydney which also happens to have the best views of the harbour including the opera house
Touristy to be sure but what's wrong with that? The harbour front boardwalk from Kings Street Wharf to Darling Harbour is the best of its kind anywhere.
Gothic(ish) architecture and brilliant shopping make this place a must see
Everyone that comes to Sydney wants to go to Bondi and whilst the beach itself is magnificent the retail/commercial strip facing it is pretty tired.
Good wholesome food served with a smile in a reasonable amount of time and right in the middle of the rocks
Stunning views that cannot be replicated anywhere in Sydney
Do yourself a favour - go somewhere else. Tepid pies are no one's idea of fun.
Excellent Italian cuisine at the Quay end of Pitt Street. Funky atmosphere with a lot of hard surfaces so a tad noisy - otherwise a great place
Well, what can you say about "the coat hanger" ? it and the Opera House are without doubt the most iconic symbols of Australia internationally and with good cause. The same bridge over some boring river somewhere would be nowhere near as remarkable, but crossing that harbour and its gob smacking back drop brings to mind one word - WOW!!
Another fabulous Sydney pub and right in the middle of The Rocks. Good pub/bistro type food downstairs and fine dining upstairs. Excellent place.
Its free and other than the Bridge Climb offers the best views of Sydney and unlike the bridge climb they let you take your camera.
Another excellent pub in the rocks. Cook it yourself steak or just a few drinks in the beer garden out back
Drive a few minutes from Sydney CBD and you will find it hard to believe you are not miles down the coast except for the views back to city!!
Excellent cuisine, fabulous views, fantastic cocktails and brilliant wine list.
I have lived here all my life. I have been on, around, in and over Sydney Harbour countless times and in all weather condition and with my hand on my heart I can tell you I never get sick of that view
Excellent steaks (and seafood) on the foreshores of Darling Harbour.
