I enjoy traveling. We have taken family vacations since our children were young and valued exposing them to different people and cultures. Now they are 30 and we are traveling more on our own. We enjoy nice dinners and hotels as well as camping, adventures and hole in the wall new places! San Francisco is our backyard escape. Every visit, we find a new favorite walk, restaurant or something special.

This is not on the tourist route. Steps down or up with fantastic views of Alcatraz and the Palace of Fine Arts. Immigrant Heart in the middle of a garden in front of Dianne Feinstein's home. Borders the beautiful Presidio. Highly recommend walking a bit here.
Millionaire's Bacon a must... Fantastic breakfast restaurant. Great service and quality. My favorite is the Smoked Salmon Open Face.
Take in a play at the Orpheum! Fantastic productions! Right off the bart line.
Curviest Street ever!!! Walk or drive to get the best appreciation for these curves. Make sure and get pics of Coit Tower from this vantage.
Landmark monument. There is historical art inside that you really should see. You can pay for an elevator trip up to the top for fantastic views. There are free tours also that take you around and explain the history. Look up City Walks.
Touristy but fun. Seafood and fresh sourdough smells abound. There are attractions such as the Aquarium of the Bay, The 7D Experience and Madame Tussauds, but there is also just people watching and finding the sea lions!
Iconic beauty. This is amazing from any view whether it is covered in fog or brilliantly lit.
Prison with a view! Hard to believe they could hear the nightlife and be so close and yet so far away. Restoration work has just been completed. And YES, you can swim from the island to mainland =)
Oasis in the City. Peaceful, tranquil walking paths, museums and tea gardens lead to a respite for sure.
Walk down from the Lyon Street Steps and rest here in the beauty of this place.
Lighthearted tour of the city and a brief water ride. Lots of good laughs.
This has been named the Best French Pastry outside of Paris!
Worth a walk through just for the sights and smells.
Tuesdays and Saturdays are Farmers Market Days. Best to visit during these events. Graze your way through!
Great place to walk or bike ride with views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz.
Hiking path beginning at Sutro Baths. Hike all the way to the Presidio and China Beach.
Property is bigger than Golden Gate Park and fantastic to walk through.
Stair walking trip worth the effort. Backyard gardens and great views along the way.
Lands End beginning. Walk down to the baths and then see pictures of what it used to be at the restaurant on the road.
Best Ballpark in the MLB! Best team, fans, views, staff and food! Best all around!
Located right under the Bay Bridge, with great seafood and wonderful ambiance, I highly recommend dinner or drinks here.
