We stayed at La Ceitya, in Saint Gilles Croix de Vie for 5 nights over the august bank holiday weekend 2011.
It's a really trendy hotel, the rooms are good size with separate shower room & toilet, brightly decorated rooms with fantastic electronic black out shutters - to keep the heat & light out so you get a great sleep in a comfy bed and nothing to disturb you.
The rooms are on a quiet side street and the front entrance is opposite a pretty church, at the beginning of the main high street.
There's a bar to the front of the hotel where you can enjoy a drink on the terrace and people watch or grab drinks for your room (have great coffees served here).
You can park fro free in the hotel car park to the rear, its easily accessible.
The staff were lovely, they allowed you to speak French and helped out in English if you really struggled.
We booked to stay here as our family were staying at Les Pas Opton, in Le Fenouiller about 10 minutes drive from Saint Gilles, a great location to be in the town and we were not too far from the family.
Theres plenty to see in Saint Gilles, there are markets held on either side of the river n the morning, with wine stands to taste before you buy and a larger market in the church car park.
We had a great stay here and visited the wine caves to load up the car with local drinks.
Theres a 'Super U' a few mins drive away, your usual super market again with cheerfully cheap local wines and beers.
We paid £60 a night to stay here and it was well worth it!
