Nestled on a hillside in acres of tropical foliage the villas are relatively secluded from each other. We were actually returning guests having had a wonderful and relaxing vacation the first time two years prior. What we love about Stonefield:

Value-we've been guests at Ladera and Anse Chastenet on prior trips to St. Lucia and loved features of both, however overall the food, the ambiance, the privacy, the space, and service, all for the cost at Stonefield which is considerably less than the others makes it far more of a value to us.

Service/Cleanliness-All island service is slower than in the states, once you get used to it, it's easy to see the staff throughout Stonefield is courteous, friendly, responsive, and consistently go above and beyond. Our villa was spotless and essentially bug free even given its proximity to the woods and lots of foliage. We loved the kitchenette with our own small refrigerator, blender, sink, dishes so we could stash some of our own snacks and drinks and enjoy them in our own space and time. We also loved the outdoor shower, and have since installed one in our own pool area at home. It is especially fun to take a warm shower in a tropical rain shower.

Food- The meal plans are reasonable and the food is consistently good. They also have a reasonable wine list. As restaurants outside of hotels are not plentiful on the south side of the island, it's so nice to have a restaurant on site that has variety, sufficient portions and delicious island flair. The restaurant staff is cordial, very friendly and slightly overworked (it is a little slow), but overall they provide great service and get to know their travelers likes and dislikes. The view from the restaurant is also picturesque and enjoyable.

The Villas- We've stayed in Hibiscus and Frangipani both premioum villas, both offered spectacular views and many magnificant sunsets, as well as rainbows. Both were very private, the bed was very comfortable, the air conditioning (which we only used at night to cancel out some of the sounds of nature and any possible mosquitoes that are inevitable) was a nice addition. As noted the outdoor shower and kitchenette are both a super plus. One of the wonderful features of the room was the huge veranda and porch area aptly equiped with rocking chairs, a hammock, chaise lounges and a table and chairs--this was the site of many a beautiful sunset, tons of sun, some relaxing rainstorm watching, lots of reading, and simply recharging our batteries. By the way the private swimming pool was a full pool and NOT a plunge pool, it was amazing and enjoyable (bring a raft!). Overall it was entirely comfortable and more than enough room and amenities.

In summary, we had another fabulous vacation at Stonefield and will return again. We would recommend it to anyone, so long as what they're looking for is total relaxation and not a necessarily a night life. There are a number of great excursions you can be set up for, two we love are the sunset sail and the volcano/botanical gardens, but there is more available. The new spa is lovely, and it's definitely worth the time to partake in their services, I especailly enjoyed my massage. Overall a great value and perfect spot for a romantic getaway.

Stonefield has been on my destination bucket list for awhile and we were finally able to go on our honeymoon. We spent a week there and it was the most relaxing seven days.

Room: We had the Piton Ocean view(Jasmine) which in my opinion is THE BEST view of the Piton. There was also a kitchen with appliances, a living room area. The outdoor showers were amazing and I actually miss it. The pool was smaller than I expected but that wasn’t a detail I was really bothered by. Housekeeping called everyday on the cell phone we were giving by reception to check in if we needed cleaning services. Rooms were always kept tidy. There were creepy crawlies sometimes, but that’s expected and we didn’t mind. They weren’t large or bothersome.

Food: Mango Tree is the only restaurant at the resort. The breakfast menu is the same everyday, but the Lunch and Dinner menu changes. Breakfast was always good, though basic, especially with the view. For a couple of days, we decided to not get the complimentary breakfast and try other items on the menu including the “St.Lucian Breakfast”which was the best thing I ate for my whole stay there. Lunch was just okay. The grilled pineapple sandwich was my favorite thing on the lunch menu. The roti, though, the presentation was superb, was bland, especially after tasting authentic roti in other Caribbean islands. Dinner was better. There were many dishes that I enjoyed like the blue cheese crusted filet with dasheen fries. The appetizers left more to be desired. One night, we ordered a shrimp appetizer only for it to be only two jumbo shrimp, which didn’t match with the price. If I were to stay at Stonefield again, I would definitely upgrade to the all inclusive meal plan to save money. We got tired of the food at Mango Tree and ate at other restaurants in the area for some lunches/dinners. But had I been staying at another resort in the area, I would definitely make reservations for Mango Tree for one night for the experience. Sitting at the table while the sun sets over the ocean is breathtaking.

Resort activities: I will say that this resort isn’t for the super active people who want to to jam pack their days in with multiple activities on site. There is a petroglyphs walk in the morning on certain days, a cooking class presentation on Saturdays, two nights there was a great live band that played during dinner. We also attended a sunset cocktail night with complementary Lucian bites and sangria. There is yoga class for a charge that we never attended. That’s about it. This resort is more for relaxation, so I understood. We booked all but one excursion through the reception(over the phone they gave us and in person). It was hassle free.

Staff : All resort staff were friendly and welcoming. We had different drivers for our excursions, but Mr.Charles was the best driver we had and definitely went above and beyond for us. We wished we had him for all of our excursions.

Overall, I would definitely go again if I ever need some rejuvenation. The fact that the resort didn’t have much going on didn’t bother me at all. There was the pool to lounge around in and the hammock to nap and read on. But I could see some guests may feel bored if they don’t have any excursions booked.

We stayed 5 nights from July 28 to August 2 in the Jacaranda villa, we booked through Expedia and paid the premium for a view of both the ocean and the pitons. The resort is actually only a 45 min drive from the airport (not over an hour as google maps would report) - and was not at full capacity during our stay. This said, it was amazing how we felt like we had the place to ourselves and only saw only guests during meals at the Mango Tree restaurant. Breakfast was included in the package, and we opted NOT to do an meal plan (thankfully).

Coles notes:
-the dip pool really makes this place special as you can spend the duration of your stay on the property if you wanted to
-AC in the room was essential to our comfort but upon check-in the guest services agent who led us to the room didn't explain how to use it at all so it was either too cold or too hot
-there's a hot water tank for the outdoor shower, again - we weren't told and had to ask housekeeping why the water was ice cold
-they give you a cellphone to use during your stay which was great for booking taxis to get around
-bring bug spray, depending on time of year and weather you'll need it to fend off mosquito and sand fleas-- even hosed down nightly, we left with at least 10 bites each
-tree frogs come out at night, and while you can't see them they create a symphony of ambient noise: if you need complete silence to sleep, bring ear plugs

There are only 2 areas of improvement to note:
-As mentioned in other reviews, staff attitude at the reception and the restaurant were disengaged and borderline rude; some seemed quite miserable to be working there and it showed in how they interacted with guests

-The Mango Tree Restaurant is the only thing on the resort and it would be helpful if they changed their menus up. Lunch is the offering everyday and dinner only changes Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday. If you want the ease of not taxing around the area to try other restaurants, the lack of selection gets boring quite quickly.

Thank you for choosing Stonefield Villa Resort for your vacation and thank you for your feedback. We are pleased that you appreciated the many elements that make us a unique experience. As you can appreciate we are located in acres of lush tropical elements so there will be some tropical nuisances like mosquitos and sand flies. We do have bug spray available for our guests and we fog regularly to reduce the presence of these insects. We have taken note of the attitude of our staff and will continue our training in this regard. We make every effort to have several options on our menus as well as to change it up. Popular items are staples of course. We, however, value all comments and have passed your comments to our Operations Manager. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Our first time in St Lucia and 4 nights at the Stonefield estate was just what we were looking for.

On arrival we were greeted with a fresh juice and cool towel and made to feel welcome throughout our stay.

We had arranged a private transfer from the airport to the hotel but on landing no one was there to meet us but a quick call to reception and a car was arrange.

Our private villa had all we required for 4 days of relaxation - large comfy bed, Ac, safe, private pool with loungers, double hammock, tea/coffee facilities, a fridge and not to mention unrestricted views to the piton!

(My only recommendation in the room would be to have curtain/blinds - even though the villas are very private and staff always knock before coming into the grounds it would help keep the sun out early in the morning)

Breakfast couldn't have been better with a great choice including fresh fruits, eggs and pastries - the Mango Tree restaurant was the best we ate at in Soufriere - we always try others (hotel chocolate / waterfront / hummingbird but on occasions wished we had eaten at the hotel) one night there was an all you can eat buffet at 60USD and wished there was another option (we had eaten a large late lunch at Fredos and only wanted a snack) the Bar / restaurant staff were amazing so thanks to all.

You can easily walk down into Soufriere in 15-20 mins and here you can find local bars / supermarkets / restaurants. To come back just call the hotel on the phone they provide and the driver will come to collect you.

If we come to St Lucia again and are looking for a idillic hideaway to chill and relax then we would come back to Stonefield.

My wife and I stayed at Stonefield for 4 days of our 8 day honeymoon from May 26-30th. We wish we would have stayed for all 8 days of our trip. It was truly fantastic. We stayed in Ginger Lily villa, which is one of the newly built 1 bedroom luxury suites. It was amazing. Our villa was very modern, with a nice kitchen area with a refrigerator, sink, coffee maker, blender, and toaster. The bathroom had nice double sinks, and a walk-in-closet was adjacent to the bathroom. Also adjacent to the bathroom is a garden shower which was refreshing with the heat.
Our plunge pool was more like a full sized pool! It was very clean, and was in the sun all day, so it was warm all the time. This was our favorite part of the villa.
Every door and window had screens on them, so at night, if you close everything up, the bugs are not a problem at all.
The restaurant had fantastic food, and the prices were very reasonable, especially when you have just spent 4 days at Ladera, as we had. The service ranged anywhere from great to very so-so at the restaurant, depending on who was waiting on you, but plan on spending a good amount of time for your meals, regardless. Everyone was very pleasant, and we really couldn't have asked for a more relaxing time.
As good as all of this is, the views are more amazing than anything. I couldn't stop taking pictures. However, no pictures in magazines or photo albums could ever compare to actually being there, and seeing the Petit Piton towering on the horizon. It was stunning.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Stonefield, and had decided to go back as soon as we can before we even left our first trip there!
Thank you Stonefield employees for a great experience, and we will see you soon.
Hi and thanks to Kevin, as well. Remember the Brits!!!!
I would recommend Stonefield to anyone who enjoys peace and quiet with no televisions, telephones, or the grind of daily life. Great place. Can't wait to go back.

Casual for dinner. It's outside with a gorgeous view of the Pitons and the ocean. Not sure about the all inclusive package

Hi there, the resort has 17 villas. 14 one bedroom, 1 two bedroom, 1 three bedroom and 1 five bedroom. Each room in the two bedroom has their own bathroom. The three bedroom villa has one master bathroom and one shared bathroom. Each room in the five bedroom villa has its own bathroom. Four of the one bedroom villas have small kitchens. The two bedroom, three bedroom and five bedroom villas have kitchens. All villas have private swimming pools. All units have Piton views. Rooms with direct piton and ocean view cost more (Piton Ocean View Rooms) however all the ocean view villas have piton views. Hope this is helpful.

The coffee maker is a standard drip coffee maker and they supply standard folgers coffee. You can get whatever coffee you want at the market in town a mile away.
