Over many years we have traveled six continents for both business and pleasure. NEVER have we experienced the level of service and attention given so willingly and graciously as recently experienced at Stonefield. This together with the incredible location (literally next to Petit Piton) and the ingeniously designed villas which offer complete privacy made our experience truly astounding.
Our villa was a "one bedroom ocean view" -- spacious with an air conditioned bedroom, adjoining sitting room and kitchenette fronted by a large deck nest to our private pool. The villa offered an incredible "cliffside" view of the 2,500 foot hillside of Petit Piton (we felt like we could reach out and touch it) and the Caribbean Ocean.
Check out the Stonefield website... the pictures do not lie! What you see in those photos is actually what you get!
The seven or eight minute free shuttle ride to Sugar Beach almost makes Stonefield an ocean front resort with mountain views. The beach is beautiful and the beach-side restaurant is a great destination whether you get into the water or not.
We checked out a couple restaurants in Soufriere and other resorts but The Mango Tree restaurant at Stonefield provided the best food and service. An excellent breakfast is included making the view of the ocean and mountains from this open air restaurant a wonderful way to start each day.
Finally, we must give a special thanks to the concierge staff (especially Vinel) and manager Paul who assisted us so ably... as did the staff of The Mango Tree. Frankly, each and every staff member we met deserves to be recognized!

We had been waiting to come here for three years on our honeymoon!
The Pros: Our shuttle driver was waiting for us when we came outside. All our drivers were very nice (we had a different driver for every excursion). I know some reviews on here said the shuttle pick up was iffy or non-existent, but we didn't have any issues. The only time our driver wasn't there to pick us up was for the sunset cruise and the worker at the pier told us to call so we did and a driver was sent within 10 minutes. We booked the Piton and Ocean View Villa and it had the best views. It was magical being so close to the mountain and being able to see the ocean every day along with the sunsets. Having our own pool and a place all to ourselves along with the perfect weather was the best part of the whole trip. The villa was roomy, had plenty of lighting (including the pool at night) air conditioning worked great, the rain shower was life changing. The shower was spacious, the breeze blowing in and the sun coming down while showering was amazing. They gave two small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body moisturizer. The villa is also pretty close to the Mango Tree. You go all the way up the flight of stairs and you're there. The driver will drop you off at your villa if you ask, otherwise it's at reception. I have given another review of the mango tree. All our excursions were great. We did snorkeling, the sunset cruise (drinks and appetizers included), the volcano and mud baths, the Wonders of St. Lucia (Tet Paul, Estate and Gardens) and the floating breakfast tray. With snorkeling be prepared with your own mask. They provide a mask but we got our own and we used their life jacket and flippers. The reef also wasn't the most lush and colorful but a lot of the fish were pretty. Don't expect the Great Barrier Reef. For the mud bath be prepared for lots of other people. Our tour guide was great and stayed with us taking pictures and telling us where to go next. Did feel a bit rushed getting through the process. The weather in January is great. It was mainly sunny, in the low 80s and there was always a nice breeze. Sometimes it rained at night into the morning. I loved hearing all the animals at night.
The cons: We arrived to check in around sunset so I'm sure the woman checking us in wanted to get us done quick so we wouldn't miss sunset, but it did feel a bit too rushed. She handed us our drinks and a towel and then got right down to checking us in so there I was trying to look over a bill while having my bag and a towel and a drink in front of me. We then took the drinks to the villa with us. (The shuttle drives you and the luggage to the villa) The concierge woman came with us to show us around our villa. We got a welcome gift bag with two soaps in it that smelled great.) She asked if my wife and I were sisters right away and because St. Lucia is conservative we weren't sure if we should be honest so we said we were friends. I'm pretty sure when I filled out the form I had put honeymoon down, but perhaps I am remembering incorrectly. One of our shuttle drivers also asked if we were sisters right away so my wife and I got the feeling their first thought wasn't a gay couple and stuck to the friends option which didn't always feel great being on our honeymoon. Stonefield had posted a Happy Pride post when we were looking at the resort a couple years ago, so we assumed it would be LGBT friendly, but if you are a gay couple looking at St. Lucia be mindful of local attitudes and assumptions. They played gospel music every morning at breakfast. Our villa could of used a better flush for the toilet. Sometimes it took a couple of flushes for everything to go down. The kitchen sink could of used a drying rack for dishes and some soap. The windows (especially in the bedroom) had no curtains or a way to close the shutters so it got bright in the room very early. If you need it to be pitch black to sleep, bring a mask. The resort is steep. Even the steps going up to the restaurant left me a bit winded and I work out. Be ready for rain. Lots of low clouds that pass quickly. Didn't ruin our trip at all (and I usually hate getting wet in clothes.) One time it even rained with no cloud overhead. The drive to and from the airport can get high up and the drivers like to take the curves fast. In Soufriere the locals walk in front of the cars all the time and the roads are narrow. Can be nerve wracking if you're not used to it. Didn't feel motion sickness though and my wife is prone to vertigo. She felt fine. You get an itinerary sheet with all your excursions when you check in. I totally missed that they didn't include the breakfast tray for our final morning there. So at 9:30 we were waiting for the delivery and none came. The front desk called me about check out and lunch and I let them know about the tray so they took the order (and had to call back to confirm a couple things they forgot to ask the first time) and said the tray would come at 10:30. The tray came at 10:45. But we managed to have a nice meal and relax a bit before checkout at 12. Make sure to go over everything. I felt like I looked at the itinerary every day and couldn't believe I didn't see it all week. I had confirmed everything before we left, but the resort and I both missed it. Things happen. The resort gives you a cell phone to call when you need somethig or if they want to get in touch. I found it hard to leave on because its an old fashioned mobile phone with the buttons exposed so if it was in my bag and on, buttons would get randomly pressed. But when I turned it off, I forgot to turn it on and missed a few calls. When we got off the sunset cruise to call for our driver the call couldn't go through. Thankfully I had saved the number to my personal phone and called that way.
Overall the location is perfect, the villa and the private pool were amazing, the restaurant was great, and the excursions were fun. FYI if you have a later flight going home like we did (4:43 take off) don't feel pressured to get to the airport three hours early. Stay at the mango tree and watch the pretty views there instead. The airport is small and check in was quick. We sat at the airport for over two hours when we could of been looking at the pretty ocean for an extra hour.

Thanks so much for your very detailed review. We always appreciate as much feedback as possible so that we can work with our team if necessary to address any challenges or issues. While Saint Lucia is predominantly a Catholic society the island is very welcoming to all visitors and so are we at Stonefield resort. While it is understandable that assumptions can sometimes be made innocently, we recognize that sometimes they can be hurtful or exclusionary. We will therefore continue to educate our team on this and again, we appreciate your input.
Our villa windows are all louvered and so they close easily. Our staff are trained to show all guests how to do this. We will look into this to determine what the potential issue was. Your villa was Jasmine and all the windows are louvered and can be shut tightly to block the light. We apologize if you were not shown how to do this. The restaurant was indeed very busy causing the 15 minute delay on your floating tray. We will assess this to determine how we can avoid such delays in the future. Thanks again for your review and we hope to welcome you back for your anniversary!

My girlfriend and I stayed here for four nights before moving to one of the Sandals resorts up north. It is in a great location right outside of Soufriere, from which the rainforest, Pitons, Sulphur Springs drive-in volcano, Diamond Falls botanical garden, and Jalousie and Anse Chastanet beaches are a short drive away. The rooms and amenities are not as good as what you would find in a 5-star luxury resort, but you do get your own very private patio and pool, and considering the prices of other resorts on this island, I think they are a good value for this price point. The view was great, service was particularly good, and we left feeling relaxed and happy.
ROOMS: We ended up staying in Orchid for one night and Hibiscus for the remaining three nights, which was an upgrade from the villa that we had originally booked. Orchid was a large suite-like villa with a full kitchen, separate dining/living room, and infinity-edged pool, but it had no air conditioning and only window screens rather than solid windows. The temperature was fine without A/C, but we found the lack of solid windows to be a problem at night because the bugs and frogs (or whatever else was out there) are extremely loud. Hibiscus was a smaller one-studio-room villa with a half kitchen in the bedroom, but it had solid windows and A/C. The solid windows blocked out most of the sound and we found our nights there to be much more pleasant. Both villas had swimmable pools (larger than what I was expecting), and Hibiscus had a great view of the ocean and a partial view of the Petit Piton.
FOOD: We had all of our breakfasts and a few of our dinners at the Mango Tree Restaurant. The restaurant has a stunning view of the ocean and the Petit Piton. Breakfast was OK; we found a couple of the entrees at dinner to be delicious and the rest of the food fairly good. We had one dinner at Dasheene restaurant over at Ladera; the food there was equally expensive and, in my opinion, not as good (although it is worth going there for the view). The food at Mango Tree was certainly much better than what we later had as part of the all-inclusive at Sandals.
LOCATION AND EXCURSIONS: We spent a half day exploring the Piton waterfall, Diamond Falls botanical garden, and Sulphur Springs volcano, most of another day climbing the Gros Piton, and a full day at Jalousie and Anse Chastanet beaches. A great plus was that everything was very close-by; a minus was that they are not so close as to be walkable, and the shortest taxi rides still cost $12 USD. You are given a cell phone upon check-in that you can use to call the front desk and arrange taxi transportation from other places on the island. We found this to be extremely helpful and convenient. The one unpleasant thing was that we did not ask for the price of the Gros Piton hike beforehand; we ended up doing the hike together with one other couple and we were charged $170 USD. Assuming that the other couple was also charged $170, the total charge of $340 for the four of us is an exorbitantly high price for one round-trip taxi and one guide. If you do choose to do some excursions with the hotel, it is a good idea to be a bit smarter than we were about these things.
SERVICE: The one thing that stood out to us most of all was the service. The entire staff was very friendly and always greeted us with a smile. They helped us move our luggage when we had to switch rooms. We accidentally left a jacket behind during this room switch and only found out a few days after we had left the hotel, and they were able to deliver it to us at the airport. The front desk staff served as a helpful and very personal concierge, arranging our taxi transport and tours of the area and helping us to make reservations at restaurants and to contact local attractions. When unexpected things came up in our plans, they were always able to help us with a plan B. This sort of personal service was what made our stay a truly enjoyable experience.

We had a lovely seven night stay at Stonefield in February 2024. The villas with private plunge pools feel luxurious with a more digestible price point than many of the most famous resorts on the island. The concierge services are some of the best, the communication leading up to the trip, airport transfer, etc were all phenomenal. We felt especially well take care of by Valna, Rekia and David. Daily housekeeping services were lovely. I highly recommend booking everything through the resort and arranging transport through them as well, the ultimate ease. The only downside to the resort was the restaurant on site which is more a 3/5. The service is very slow, you need to plan to have well over an hour to take a meal there. It wasn’t till near the end of our trip that we realized the ease of taking a taxi to try out new restaurants. Because of this, I would probably not recommend the all inclusive option if you are on the fence.

From the moment we stepped onto the resort, we were taken amazing care of. We were given a cell phone to have direct access to the concierge who made taking advantage of everything St Lucia had to offer effortless. The staff at the restaurant was also sweet and attentive. One morning, as we noticed the mango tree hovering near the dining area was starting to bear ripe fruit, our waiter threw off his shoes, climbed up the tree, and brought us back a fresh mango as if it were the most normal thing in the world to ask for. The resort is utterly gorgeous with flowering plants everywhere. And the villas are well cared for, quaint, romantic, and very relaxing. You can't beat the views! We didn't want to leave. And the fact that this is a locally owned and operated restaurant made it all the better.
