We recently planned a family get together at Northern Outdoors to see our 11 month old granddaughter from Washington state. We have been there many times over the years and have always enjoyed it. This time was definitely different. When deciding where to stay, I specifically asked if the pool would still be open when we were there and whether there was a washer/dryer in the cabin we were in. I was told that absolutely the pool would be open and all the club cabins had washers and dryers in them. Based on this information we choose Northern Outdoors over the other places we were considering. When we got there the pool was closed and when we checked into our cabin there was no washer and dryer. We went to the desk to explain that we didn't get what we were told we would get when we made our reservations and we weren't very happy about it. The attitude we got was less than impressive. They basically said I don't know why you were told that, nothing we can do about it. No sincere apology at all. Without having any real choice we went back to our cabin, which we were told was the best one since it had just been renovated. We found that the couches in the living room were covered in dog hair. So I went back up to the desk and borrowed a vacuum so I could clean the furniture and the rugs for the baby. Other things we found during our stay in the "newly renovated " cabin was the upstairs shower drain was mostly clogged so you were standing in ankle deep water by the end of a shower. There were 2 mouse traps that we luckily found before the baby did and mouse droppings on the kitchen window sill. To top the week off we went to the restaurant in the main lodge for breakfast on Friday. The waitress never asked us if we wanted drinks. We tried to catch her eye for about 10 minutes but she continually ignored us. Finally my son-in-law went to her and asked for some drinks. She ignored us for another 5 minutes and finally came to take our drink order. Overall a very disappointing experience. In general the whole place is feeling run down. We will certainly never go back.
The combination of activities offered (year round) was good. We saw people using ATVs, rafting, swimming and enjoying the hot tub. The pool and hot tub area were nice, and larger than I expected (with capacity limited during covid). There was game room I think, which was closed.
We stayed in a private cabin (Boom Chain) up the hill, and it was very clean and comfy. It had a kitchenette, small fridge (no freezer), grill, camping ring, 2 outdoor chairs, and hot bath. The cabins are spaced far enough apart you don't hear your neighbors unless they are really loud. Overall a good stay, a little pricey, but not many other options where you can stay in the area (and have a drink then walk up the hill to your cabin).
The yurts are across the road, and more economical. They have a light, but no place to plug in your phone (so we were told).
Six families ventured 5 hours north for a fun long weekend. I was pleasantly surprised by the accommodations. We stayed in a cabin tent which has a light switch with one bulb. This was very handy and helpful. The sites were great. Each one had its own recycle barrel and trash barrel. We were site 4 and very close to the bathroom and showers. The bugs were not bad if you were prepared with repellant. Our only main concern was that with 17 kids, we had to cross a main road where people drove 60 miles an hour to get to the base camp lodge. The lodge had a great pool, corn hole and hot tub. There was self service coffee in the morning and Wi-Fi. There is NO service at the sites. Unfortunately the restaurant was not staffed properly to host a party of 29. Our dinner was not done well. The restaurant manager was also not very kind about it. All and all it was a perfect family getaway.
we just got back from a weeks stay at Northern Outdoors and had an amazing vacation!!. From check in to check out the staff was so helpful and answered all our questions from renting atv's for the day to where to get ice. The river guides were unbelievable and made sure we all had fun but also made sure we were safe the entire ride down the river. The brewery was top notch and had a great selection of beer, nice job Mike!! The cabins were clean and just right for our large family. The great part about Northern is you can do a different adventure each day you are there or do nothing and sit by the pool and hot tub and just relax. We are already planning on going back next year!!!
We were a group of 4 and came to white water raft. We stayed in a LOGDOMINIUM and it was perfect. The room had 2 stories and plenty of room. The property was wonderful and had lots to do. Pool, hot tub, kayaking, corn hole, and pool table. We were so happy with everything that we are planning to do it again next year
