We chose this hotel because it is a few block away from the highway and supposed to be quiet. But there is no switch for the noisy bathroom fan to turn it off. It uses a sensor but the sensor may have some problem because it was on for the whole time we stayed there, even before we used the bathroom. It was very noisy and I didn't have a good sleep. We stayed in a newly renovated room which was very clean. It has a small kitchen area with cook top but the cupboard is locked and you will have to pay extra for using the utensils.

Room Tip: check the bathroom fan when you enter the room, if it is on it could be on for the whole night.

After an experience with shady motels right on Hwy 16, my wife and I tried North Country Inn. The rooms are neat, clean, have a fridge, microwave and even a hotplate. I don't care about "idiotbox" but there is a big screen on the wall. I have stayed in cheaper motels where they trusted me with their pot and pans. Not here, gotta pay extra. Our room (41) was in the back, where a lot of work crews stayed. No problem with that, except a driver left a reefer on about 80 feet from our door. The double-paned windows saved the night. Also, eating at their diner is a must if you're into schnitzels and salad bars (Euro-style).

We were directed here as a recommendation. Room is clean providing bare minimum. Shampoo with no conditioner, 2 pillows (no extra to try for diferent type sleepers. We had to ask at the front desk for a hair dryer. The fridge in my room was right beside my bed so it kept waking me up every time it turned on. Then at 6 am a hotel worker was doing something down the hall making so much noise not just waking me up but keeping me up until they finished whatever they were doing (the noise was such as it could not have been another guest.)
In the basement rooms there is a window but it is in the bathroom. So if you need a window I would recommend not using these rooms.

We have stayed at the North County Inn every year for the past 8 years.
The rooms are large and "very" clean. We stayed in Room 43 this year which has a small kitchenette. Very well appointed.
Bed is very comfortable. Bathroom appears to have been updated.
The Inn has a restaurant which is open from breakfast to supper.
Within walking distance you will find two other very good restaurants that are ranked 2 and 5 (The Reid Hotel)on trip advisor. I've eaten at both and they are excellent 😀.
I would recommend the North Country Inn.

We drove from Prince Rupert to Jasper so we needed to stop somewhere for one night. We were told to avoid Prince George so ended up in Vanderhoof.
We had one of the "deluxe" rooms. It was OK for one night but it was hot. We couldn't open the door or the window as we were on the ground floor facing the car park and there were people around. Also, the road is very noisy.
The restaurant nearby is OK.
Breakfast is not included in the price of the room, which is rather expensive.
With hindsight we should have stopped in Prince George where there is more choice of accommodation.
