We came this year 2018 with our friends in late september. We picked Tommy's apartment Mar Azul C9 offering a comfortable large two bedroom two bathroom with a new kitchen and with a huge terrace, pool and sea view!! We weren't disappointed 9.8 star (although we were on arrival greeted by a very negative man who seemed to have nothing good or interested to say about his work or complex, so for us we were so relieved when walking into our lovely apartment ...it was very clean and comfy it had everything we could wish for bathroom wise his and her sinks towels etc and the kitchen with its many appliances ... if there was anything, it needed a few little minor things updated but the main thing for us it was safe and as advertised and well within its rently per night. Thank- you Tommy we will return!! next year and thank you for the added bonus of our early check in and late check out.

The apartment complex had a gorgeous large pool which looked out onto the sea everything was kept clean plenty of sunbeds and a bar which was open a few days of our stay as it was late summer(the most cheerful man making tasty cocktails and food perfect for a hot day. The Mar Azul was also within five minutes walking distance to Laguna village with its dozen good restaurants and shops to suit all then 25 mins walking the other way was fabulous Estepona with its traditional spanish feel.
i wouldn't hesitate on returning late summer or early spring its such a lovely coast line and the sun always shines.

We came as a family of 4 in May half term and enjoyed a week in a 2 bedroom apartment with beautiful pool and sea view. The apartment complex is in a good location to explore this coast line and with a car it is also easy to access the towns in the mountains, which are well worth a visit. The roads are excellent.
The apartment itself was spacious and comfortable, although some of the fixtures and fittings were old and broken. Due to it being early in the season, pool bar was not open. The indoor pool was also out of use due to being broken. However, we enjoyed the quiet and peaceful environment around the pool. The pool was rather cold, however. Perhaps due to being early seasons. In the Summer it seems it would be very busy here. For us, May half term was perfect. A car is recommended. It is a fair walk into Estepona. Overall, an enjoyable trip.

Response from Brian50, Owner at Mar Azul Resort Estepona
Responded Jun. 17, 2018
Thank you for taking the time to write this review Emma, and you have raised some fair points. The Mar Azul Resort is comprised of 72 privately owned apartments, and is 12 years old now, and unfortunately not all the rental apartments have been lovingly maintained over that period of time. The reviews on various web-sites can help to choose those that have. There have been problems with the leisure club, and more particularly with the heated swimming pool. But the community of owners has very recently purchased the club from the original developer, and it is now being renovated. The pool bar is only open at peak times, normally mid July to mid September, longer if the weather is particularly good. The promenade to the Laguna village, encompassing the stunning new bridge over the River Padron by the Kempinski hotel was completed last year. The promenade the other way, towards Estepona, is being gradually extended right along the shoreline, and I fully expect this to be complete by September 2018. We will then have a magnificent coastal walkway right into the centre of town. I do very much hope that you will return to Mar AZUL for another holiday and try a lovingly maintained apartment with private garden, with the magnificent views you liked so much. Brian (E5)

So this was our 10th stay at Brian's apartment so this alone must speak volumes for a review.

The apartment is beautifully kept and to a very very high standard. It is super luxurious with all mod cons and has everything you could possibly need. It is very spacious with a dining table and a big patio table outside on the patio/garden over looking the pool and the sea. Truly wonderful views. There are sun loungers on the private patio as well.

The bedrooms have so much hanging space and drawers plus dressing tables with hair dryer and plenty of mirrors!! There are even English plug points too!! Very modern bathrooms and a jacuzzi bath, walk in shower etc. Bathroom towels, towelling bath robes. The lounge area has a huge sofa/(this can be pulled out to become a double bed if needed), a large tv with English channels, DVD player, music system.

From the apartment's private pretty garden and patio it is only a few steps down to the massive swimming pool with cabanas, a bridge, fountains, water falls, palm trees, flowers. There are lots of sun loungers and parasols around the pool. There is a shallow area for babies and young children. There is a small pool bar that also serves lunches and ice creams. Fantastic selection of homemade salads or paella etc - Wonderful atmosphere.

Marazul is very secure with secure gates from the pool allowing you straight out to the beach which again is only a few more steps away. There are some new pathways next to the beach or walk along the actual beach where you can walk to Laguna Village with all its restaurant. The Kempinski hotel is right next door with its restaurants too. I used to stay there for my holidays before I discovered Marazul!!! I much prefer Brian's apartment.

Marazul has an indoor pool and a gym.

I guarantee you will not be disappointed staying at Brian's apartment E5. You will be booking up again I'm sure!!

Stanley: I really loved the apartment because it was right next to the pool and the pool was amazing. It was a shame the weather wasn't hot because it was February. I still got in the pool with my feet but it was freezing!! The apartment was great because there is also a place where you can play basketball and football at the end by the beach. I left my football so someone else can play when they come. I thought Brian's apartment was really really nice.
Lily: I really liked Brian's apartment. The sofa was big and comfy and we watched films. There was WiFi so we could play on our laptops as well. It was cold in Spain but warmer than England. We went to Costajump which has inddor trampolines and was really fun. We also went to Funny Beach and did go-karting. Brian's apartment was just like home and I loved everything. The jacuzzi bath was really nice too.
Mum: We went in February half term, so not hot weather but the apartment and complex is fabulous. Wish we went when it was hot because ideal for older children as the pool is literally right outside the door. We spent a night before at the Kempinski Hotel and this was definitely the same very high standard, if not higher, but miles more practical when you are a family. The apartment was so well equipped and impeccably clean. There was everything you could possibly need. We took our own Apple tv box which was great to have in the bedroom for the telly in there. The tv and lounge is really comfortable. We visit Puerto Banus regularly to see family.. this apartment is by far the best apartment complex we've seen in the area. Thanks so much Brian. Will definitely come again when the weather is hot, if you ever have a booking space!

It is over 10 years since we have stayed in an apartment for our family holiday, previous experience being that facilities are basic, there are increased hassle factors, the potential of being let down by owners and the realty often does not match the promise. We have been lucky enough to stay in some fantastic luxury hotels but had to revisit apartments once our oldest daughter became 13 and hotels started insisting on 2 rooms which increased costs ridiculously. All I can say is thanks to Brian and Apartment E5, we have found the answer. Immaculate apartment, with good quality fittings, all the equipment you would ever need, superb pool and grounds, plus extra thoughtful touches like 4 dressing gowns, decent hairdryers with accessories, English plugs converters, good basic range of food to kick start your holiday etc. There is lots to do nearby but the pool was such a draw, we only ticked one item off the list (visiting Benahavis). I cannot compliment Brian enough, whilst the email instructions are long, they cover off everything you would need, and are in a helpful rather than bossy manner. Whilst nothing went wrong on our visit, I feel 100% that if anything did, Brian and the Marazul complex would have sorted it out. Apartment E5 and Marazul would give a luxury hotel a good run for their money and for a better value price and much more room space. Would fully recommend .
