I would say Kokernag gardens are one of the most Beautiful gardens in India. There is a beautiful stream flowing through the gardens. The gardens are huge with more than 200 varieties of flowers. Must visit place. The JKTDC hut there is very comfortable right inside the garden. We stayed in a 2 bhk hut. There is a dining room inside. The staff cook the food in the Zaika restaurant again within the gardens and serve you. Rooms have heating pads on the bed, heaters and hot water 24 hours. Would rate 5/5 on all parameters viz value for money, quality of accommodation, service, food quality. Must visit place on your Kashmir itinerary.

We stayed in the property for 1 night and can never forget how badly managed the property is. The rooms are shabby and not maintained at all.

The food in restaurant was not edible - not sure why they could not make basic things like paranthas and dal.

The day we reached this place the garden was overcrowded - hard to believe but there may 1 lac odd local population doing picnic on that day. Considering the # of people all around we chose to stay in room most of the time.

The picnic population decided to throw all the trash where they were sitting - right in the garden. At the end of the day the garden was full of stinking food and wrappers of lays, bottle of coke, ice cream sticks and all that one can imagine. the stream of water passing through the garden is supposed to be having religious relevance, but that did not stop people from throwing plastic in it.

I must say considering the amount of people that came in garden was pretty well maintained, hats off to horticulture department who made it possible.

Stayed for one night at JKTDC tourist room at Kokernag botanical gardens. I was initially unsure of the place and the facility, given government establishments don't have a particularly good track record. However, this was a pleasant surprise. The staff was extremely courteous and the view from the room was just breath-taking. The rooms are right in the center of the botanical garden, with hills, flowers, stream... The rooms were well maintained and the food was also fairly decent. We had a great time, nothing to complain about. Kodos to JKTDC !

We have stayed in the deluxe rooms of JKTDC’s Hotel Alpine (tourist bungalow) during our Kashmir trip in April. When I planned our trip a few friends including my wife was very much against this place and not willing to stay at this place. This place is not well known to the travellers and everyone thinks this will not be a safe place for night stay. But, I was committed to stay here for at least one night. I had book the rooms well in advance. I was in Pahalgam and started around 8am for Kokernag. We have a packed day programme like Daksum (for wildlife sanctuary, stream, Sheep Breeding farm), Kokernag spring- Mughal Garden-Trout Fishery, Achabal-Mughal gardens, Sinthan top etc. But from the early morning heavy rain started and we all were very depressed. Due to rain could not able to enter Achabal Garden. Talked to one JKTDC’s officer at Achabal and as suggested by him we were cancelled all our plans and decided to go directly to JKTDC’s hut at Kokernag. In the mean while I have received a call from JKTDC's office Kokernag and concerned officer asked us when we will reach and how far we are from Kokernag etc. We simply mesmerized by the hospitality received. On the way to Kokernag snowfall started and when we are entering the kokernag garden (Huts are inside the garden) snow in form of cottons are falling from the sky. What an exhibition of nature!!!!!!!!! We all are amazed and speechless. We were reached our hut through snowfall and mesmerized by the location. What a place!!!! We booked two double bedded rooms and discovered that it was a 2BHK Hut. Every one of us was very happy and praises me for selecting such location. We had received warm welcome from the staff members who were very helpful. The officer again came to our hut and personally asked whether we need anything else or not. It’s really wonderful. Rooms were neat, clean & specious with electric blankets & room heater. Hot water was available in the toilet. The view from the Hut’s veranda was beautiful! Food served to us also very tasty. I will surely recommend this place to the future travellers. After entering in the garden you will find JKTDC's office on the left side where you have to report first.
