Accommodations are pretty limited in New Hazleton but the Bulkley Valley Motel is surprisingly good. It doesn't look like much from the outside and the rooms are somewhat dated although the bathroom had been recently updated and everything was spotlessly clean. We had a kitchen unit with a full fridge and stove. The utensils were somewhat limited but there were oven mitts, dish detergent and coffee filters (items we carry with us as they are often not supplied). The new owners, Howard and Lian, were very helpful and friendly. We had booked with the previous owner who had assigned us a regular room and they were happy to change that to a kitchenette. There are also two barbecues available outside the office. Another plus is that the rooms are very quiet even though the motel is right on the highway.

We're locals, but we recently rented out our house and moved away temporarily - and when we come back to Hazelton we've stayed in hotels. We've tried almost every one in the area and this Motel deserves it's #1 on trip advisor rating - it is the best!

First - it is on the highway, easy to find. It is always well priced. It is an old motel, and the owners work hard to keep it clean and in good condition. The rooms are comfy and our fav was the top room closest to the mountain. As another reviewer mentioned the rooms are also a good size!

We found the beds to be comfortable, and we appreciated the bar fridge. There's also a BBQ that guests are welcome to use.

The owners are a young couple and they do a great job.

There is a corner store right beside the motel, the excellent skeena bakery across the street, and the BC eagle across the parking lot serves breakfast. There's also a great skate park across the street. Best location in New Town!

Room Tip: Rooms further from the highway might be quieter, but we couldn't really tell!

I agree with the previous reviewers about the BVM. None of them, however, have mentioned that this older motel offers what many newer rooms lack - space! My room-for-one has a couch, a large bar fridge, a small dresses and a four-foot two-tiered desk. It is nice to have a place to open my bag and to lay out all my travel gear without having to move it to use the space for something else. At $75 this is the best travel value I have had in a long time plus it comes with real hospitality.
