The hotel is consistent in its delivery of ensuring that guests have an unforgettable and tranquil experience. A wonderful setting, a hands-on Food and Beverage Manager, who with his team provides great food and friendly service. I personally like the anonymity of being able to move around and taking advantage of the natural beauty that surrounds this beautiful resort and the staff discreetly restores room service without the in-your-face attitude in other resorts. My grandchildren always ask for an extension, when we are guests, they love this resort, check-out time is civilized and stress-free. The most recent stay was during COVID - 19, maximum of 20 guests wedding celebrations. Now that was a perfect weekend!

My wife and I decided on the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa because we wanted to vacation in a place that had a lot of "wellness" amenities and activities. We were really in need of a good break from work and liked that they offer sunrise/sunset yoga, have a spa, and gym. And while we enjoyed our stay very much our experience at the resort was quite mixed which I break down the good/bad below.

The good:

* Fijian people/resort staff: My favorite staff member at the resort was Patheli (Pax) who works at SanaSana and Kama Lounge. He became my friend and is a prime example of what every employee at a 5 star resort should be. I would come back just to see him. To management- please make Patheli employee of the month. He deserves it. There were so many incredible people but here are the ones that made a difference for us: Patheli (SanaSana/Kama Lounge), Adi (Spa), Siti (Navo), Auntie Kalesi (Concierge), Aseri (Kama Lounge), Asenate, Watisoni, Alumeu, and Josaia (all Kama Lounge).

*Locals that are safe and fun to do horse or other tours with: Steven and Imi (right next to Kama Lounge). You can walk over to where the next door village tents are (where locals do massage and have their horses) and you can just ask for Steven.

*The resort collaborates with the local communities to support their economy by hiring them to collect and deliver coconuts. They also offer several opportunities to visit different villages if you'd like to spend time off of the property and get a safe but authentic experience for local culture.

*The spa is awesome. I highly recommend Adi (pronounced Andy). She teaches couples massage for half an hour which was a super cool experience. She is also an incredible therapist and upgraded my wife and I to a special room during our treatment. We loved spending time with her.

*Spa facilities. Before the trip we found it very difficult to find any photos of the spa amenities and facilities. The spa facility is called the "Wai Zone" which has a steam room, hot tub, and cold plunge shower all of which are co-ed and require a bathing suit.

*The wine! Great wine selection.

*The other guests are excellent. A lot of Australians and Kiwis who are a blast to hang out with.

*Most of the food was very good. The breakfast as SanaSana has an incredible selection and is very healthy. Navo had very good food and incredible service.

*The golf course was amazing. There were very few people playing and the 4th hole is right on the water. It was a breathtaking view.

*The jetski and snorkel tour was amazing and is totally worth it.

The bad:

*Ants in the room (PICTURES ATTACHED). We called every day for the 9 days that we were there and they could not get the ants to go away. There was also a beetle in our toilet when we arrived. We also had ants all over the outdoor tub during the trip so we didn't feel comfortable using the tub that was a big reason to draw us to the resort. I spoke with management on several occasions and they were unable to escalate to the general manager (despite my requests to speak with them as a Spire Elite Member) and they did not offer a different room.

*Every staff member and local asks you "How many days left?" Everyone is constantly reminding you of when you need to leave and the work that you need to go back to. I gave feedback to management that it would be nice to be asked where I am from or what I like to do for fun but everyone asks this and it is frustrating.

*Late night phone call. We received a phone call at 9:30pm asking us what time we were checking out when we depart in 4 days. We were asleep and woken up to again be reminded when we need to leave vacation. Why are they calling after 7pm?

* Cold water. The shower took about 20 minutes to heat up.

* Toilet made weird noises when flushed.

* Bathroom door. The door between the sinks and the toilet area was designed poorly. My wife and I both slammed our thumb in the door during our stay.

*Some Fijian people...some locals are EXTREMELY pushy about their horse riding or other offered tours. We met a guy named "Suli". You can find his business on Facebook. It is called "Suli Local Adventures". This dude would not leave us alone and even showed up on the golf course to find us and try to pitch us on a horse tour that we said "maybe" to early in the week. You must be very honest and straight forward about your intentions with the locals. Some are great. Others are not. Same with the staff...some are amazing and others don't care too much.

*Cocktails were terrible.

*Rooms feel outdated. We were upgraded to a Lagoon view room that was very nice but the furniture and design felt quite old and outdated.

*Very slow pool service when ordering food/drinks.

*The bed was mediocre and nothing fancy.

*No aloe vera. The entire resort did not have aloe vera for the 2 weeks that we were there. The sun is brutal in Fiji. Consistently re-apply your sunscreen.

We stayed in Fiji in December 2019 and it was pure bliss! We have stayed in some beautiful destinations across the globe but there is nothing better then waking up to the Fijian sunrise and the gorgeous aqua- blue ocean in the Natadola Bay.
Our room was certainly one with a view, overlooking Navo island, adjacent the hotel, which is said to be a treasured place by the people of the neighbouring Sanasana village.
A trip to Fiji wouldn't be complete without fully immersing yourself into the spirit and culture of Fiji and we found out there were so many activities within the resort that allowed you to learn more about the Fijian people and some of their popular traditions! We absolutely loved the whole experience!

We were registered at a resort on Denarau Island and heard the best white sandy beaches and snorkeling on the island were at Natadola Bay. Leaving most of our belongings behind we spent two outstanding days at the InterContinental and hated to return. The staff were attentive and courteous. The pool staff particularly fun. There was a Kids Club and they had hermit crab races every afternoon, so fun to watch. Our room amenities were fabulous. Large space with a balcony overlooking the pool. The balcony had a large tub in a private alcove and a daybed and seating area. While this resort is further from Nadi (about a 40 minute drive) it was worth every minute we spent here. The snorkeling here is amazing. Your young children can see coral reefs and sea life in water up to their knees when the the tide is out. Additional Note: We were not prepared to golf during this trip but did take the shuttle to the golf course for breakfast. DO THIS! It was a wonderful, quiet meal with outstanding views of the golf course.

Questions & answers about the rooms

Feb. 2020 |
Bula FarahnaazM06 and thank you for reaching out. Well, with the 1 Bedroom Club suite with plunge pool, as a club guest you have semi-inclusive options such as free mini bar and replenish daily, free afternoon cocktails, bigger rooms and own pool and mostly privacy! Also, being a club guest, you'll have access both to the Club and Resort facilities. On the other hand, Beachfront suite is the highest room category in the resort and it has the BEST views of the beach and ocean of the resort and only resort access. Just 7 steps away from your room to the beach and you enjoy our white sunny shores of Natadola Bay and also huge waves when it is high tide rises, good for snorkeling and surfing. So, to sum it up, the 1 Bedroom 1 King Club Suite has more privileges than the Beachfront Suite, but if you're looking for the View, it is best to book for the Beachfront Suite.
