If you like to forget about the hustle and bustle of the surrounding world you will like this place. It is not perfect, I mean must have seen better times, but for me that added to its charm. Our room, with quite outdated bathroom, was clean and comfortable and had a large balcony overlooking a huge swimming pool. This hotel is surrounded by the lush park-like grounds, not perfectly manicured, but again for me that added to the charm. I loved the view of the slow-flowing Kwai river in the background. Food was ok, staff very friendly.
Last Friday, October 23 of 2015. I went to Kanchanaburi with my church for a freedom camp. I didn't know what kind of hotel would it be, I just know that I would be staying there for 3 days 2 night. I got there in about an 6 hours from Bangkok, the first impression of me when I saw the place was just normal. The view was beautiful, but the place was old, really old. I got into my room, it had a smell of old wood, or something like that, the bathroom floor was mostly cracked up, and the water leaked and the bed wasn't as good as I liked. At the morning I woke up, my neck was sour, and my back wasn't feeling right.
I wouldn't count this as a funny thing, but when I was there, it was funny. I went to my friends room, and was about to prank other people, but my friend forgot to get the keys, which they only gave us 1 key, so the door closed, and wasn't able to get it. We had bare feet, and couldn't call the lobby cause of the very old telephone they had. We had to run to the elevator, sit the elevator down to first floor and go to lobby to ask for help. So be careful! Get your keys before you go outside of the room.
What I really love about the place is the nature, in Bangkok, there's is not many trees, but when I was there, I walked around the whole entire resort/hotel, and felt like in heaven, it was beautiful, my friends and I went over the lake, the water was pretty shallow in the morning but when it gets later, the water starts to get stronger and stronger, it was a very great experience. Pavilion hotel have 2 swimming pools, and the pool made the whole trip exiting, cause the pool was so big and we had so much fun in there and outside of the pool.
I would not recommend you to stay in this hotel more than 2 nights but if you can, just try, the view and the nature is something you really should experience.
It is an nice hotel for people to travel with family or friends. You could pay only little for a room. The cheapest room price is about 1800 Baht. The swimming pool is nice and big. But this hotel wasn't as good as before. Even though it's an old hotel, it is still a good place for traveling. Also, there is a river beside the hotel, the views were awesome and beautiful, the nature air were amazing. The area of the hotel were also big, so you could ride the bike or jogging at there. You could also skipping stones beside the river. The decorations, swimming pools, rooms were all good. It would be a nice try for you to visit.
We can in here knowing that it's an older property and it's not a romantic type resort. We are a group of friends who wanted to get away for the weekend and found the bungalows at the Pavilion Rim Kwai to be what we are looking for.
Yes,the property is not as new as the others as it is one of the first resorts in Kanchanaburi. However, the quiet location and being next to the river made up for that. Our 2 bedroom bungalow was spacious and peaceful, and the master bedroom had a nice view looking towards the river.
The staff at check-in and during breakfast was pleasant and always smiling.
I don't know where to start.
The cockroaches inside my room on the 4th floor, the worst restaurant ever in thailand, the antfarm inside my room or the Asian music at 07:00 in the morning...
Don't go there. The hotel was maybe not that bad a few years ago but today it is just a dump.
The hotel is 30km outside of kanchanaburi. Asking if they have a transport the first answer is always no, because they want you to eat in the awful restaurant. If you keep insisting the driver apears in 1 minute...
They even charge 150 baht for 2 hours of wifi!
