This Holiday Inn Express is a nice hotel. The staff was awesome, they are friendly and accommodation. The room was nice, comfortable and clean. The pool area, which is outdoor, was nice. The pool is clean and was warm; the seating was spaced according to CDC guidance. The downfall was the breakfast, they had to go bags because of the pandemic, which I understand, but I always look forward to their breakfast. Did see one bug, a roach, so exterminating might be needed. Overall great stay, and would recommend this hotel.
Stay Report - 9/19 - 9/20
Location: The hotel is located on US 280 just over the border from Columbus City, GA. This is one of those typical strip mall like roads found in every mid-sized town and city across America which means there are a number of gas stations, fast food restaurants and other motels around but the area is safe. The location is also a nice alternative to the hotels in Columbus many of which are aging badly.
Hotel: A new construction HIX in really good shape. The parking lot could be a little bit bigger but the lobby is very nice and very large. It has a two computer business center as well as an outdoor pool but there is no snack shop though the front desk told me they were expecting one soon.
Check In: A friendly agent helped me and thanked me for being Spire (Welcome Amenity points had already been posted before I arrived) and when I mentioned I was disappointed they didn't have a snack shop she got me a bottle of water
Room: Very nice with a large king sized bed, big TV, desk area, arm chair and a really nice bathroom. I really enjoy staying at these newer style HIXs when I can and I think the rooms are better than the average Courtyard or Hampton.
Breakfast: Scrambled eggs, pork and turkey sausage, cheese omelets and egg white omelets were featured along with the pancake machine and cinnamon rolls plus cereal, fruit and yogurt.
I've had a couple of disappointing stays at other hotels in Columbus so I think I'll come back here instead.
Rooms were updated and very clean. Hotel had a nice lobby area, and nice breakfast buffet. Pool area was not as well kept, but is was still earlier in the season. The hotel staff were very nice and accommodating.
Getting ahead of possible snow in Atlanta we landed here. From the front portico to the expansive lobby this place is CLEAN and modern. Our bed was comfy, room set up for long stay with fridge, micro, coffee and plenty of plugs. Everything seems new or recently renovated. Completely non smoking hotel. I used the gym and it was clean, well equipped and has all the typical machines. The pool is courtyard style so I imagine pretty nice in the warmer months. If you have kids, it’s a decent sized pool with some privacy from the road. Breakfast ‘lady’ sang gospel while greeting everyone enthusiastically...she’s got a good voice!
My one ‘hmmm’ moment was that we tried to reach the front desk around 8pm and no one answered the phone. Hubby went down and saw others standing waiting to check in. Not sure where staff was but people waiting a good 15 minutes with no one at front desk.
In morning there were two front desk folks working. I’d suggest secondary clerk until 9pm to avoid it seeming like the staff was MIA.
Even so, I’d stay here again. Really nice hotel.
Early check in! Comfortable bed! Clean room! Great breakfast. Lovely pool! What more can you ask for ? Plus the lady that cooks breakfast is awesome. Such a sweet lady. She sings while she’s work. Great spirit.
