My partner and I where looking for a unique local place to celebrate our Anniversary. Luckily we came upon Capital Hill Mansion Bed & Breakfast. My partner and I have never stayed in a Bed & Breakfast so we truly didn’t know what to expect, but as soon as we walked inside the door Carl the owner welcome us to his place and truly made us feel comfortable and welcomed. He even took the time to put a bottle of Champagne and some chocolate in our room knowing that we wore celebrating a special day. That tells you that his a great host. I would totally recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great relaxing unique and full of history Bed & Breakfast.
When my husband and I decided we needed a break and change of scenery from Phoenix we looked to Denver. After spending hours researching where to stay, reading reviews, we booked 11 nights at the Capitol Hill Mansion. I can’t believe our good fortune. To say it is perfect, is an understatement. Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner, Carl. The entrance is full of charm and beauty - graced with hanging plants and antique furniture. I chose the Bluebell Suite. Oh my! Done in white and blue I felt like I had entered a summer cottage on the East Coast.
Little did I know the best was yet to come. Breakfast was served every morning in a beautiful courtyard filled with plants, an herb garden, hummingbird feeders, several small water features and a corner doll house. All tables had white tablecloths and napkins, place settings were blue and white china handed down to Carl from his mother. Simply beautiful.
Carl does not know how to do an ordinary breakfast. He is an incredible, creative chef. We would start with coffee (from a French press) OJ, water, yogurt and a plate of fresh fruit. On normal days that would have been enough for me. But who could refuse egg soufflés, homemade waffles, eggs Benedict, pancakes with apples and walnuts? And let’s not forget the homemade breads, croissants and muffins filled with fresh fruit. My favorite? If I had to guess it was his creme brûlée French toast made with brioche topped with fresh berries.
Conclusion: Yes, I would highly recommend staying here. Both Carl and his beautiful daughter, Bailey, made our stay a memorable one. I can’t thank you enough.
Host met my requirements for private entrance, parking and operable window. Room and adjacent sunroom were spacious and comfortable. Location was convenient to my business need. Excellent food. Knowledgeable host with deep connections to the neighborhood.
It was an amazing bed and breakfast. Highly recommend staying here to have a new experience instead of the standard hotel. It was extremely clean. The owner Carl even left clorox wipes (an entire container) and a hand sanitizer for each guest inside of the room. The breakfast was also delicious!
Amid the Covid 19 pandemic, my husband and I had to travel. We were able to spend one night at the Capitol Hill Mansion, and we could not have felt more comfortable. Our host, Carl, was fabulous, taking every precaution to insure everyone’s safety.
The neighborhood is charming, just a short drive to the Cherry Hill area. The mansion itself is stunning, and each of the rooms absolutely beautiful, decorated with antiques in the style of the 1890’s. We had a room with a huge jacuzzi tub, complete with rubber ducky!
The next morning, we were served a delicious breakfast in our room: yogurt and fruit parfait, herbed egg soufflé, and homemade olive bread toast.
Our host, Carl, was an absolute delight! We will definitely recommend the Capitol Hill Mansion B&B to all our friends!
