Staff are friendly and helpful. Cabin was a double had plenty of room ,air conditioned own bathroom. Big TV. Nicely set out with double bed dinning table, kitchen has jug toaster, microwave and cooktop. Beautiful views from the balcony . Great fishing from the nearby wharf or a boat. .
Bird life close by especially the pelicans near the fish cleaning areas.
Amazing sun rises and sunset

The room was lovely and the view over the bay was nice. There is no internet access unless you buy something from the kiosk each day worth $10.00, but the internet is only available at the kiosk. The seemed to be a large variety of hot food, but our chips tasted stale...possibly old oil. I did not find the caretakers to be friendly...they were there just to do a job.
There was not enough supplies in our cabin for a 5 night stay. There was only 2 tiny tubes of dishwashing liquid which was very inefficient. In the end we used our own shampoo to wash dishes. The same with the bathroom soap....not enough.
Being a land based fisher, I asked whether you could fish from the shore. The shore is mainly mud flats and very shallow. Fishing from the jetty was just heaps of small tommies, and undersized whiting. The other person there was having success squidding. So we hired a tinny. This worked out well but you will get no tips from the caretakers. On putting out the anchor the first time, the rope was badly tangled in a couple of places leaving trailing rope in the water while I tried to untangle it all. When we returned from our trip, we returned the boat to the sandy area we started out from. But, as pointed out by the grumpy caretaker, this was not the right place. He had to get his feet wet. He would not allow us to help him.
Overall, a disappointing experience.

Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review and your comments. As you would be aware Venus Bay is quite isolated and we have to rely on satellite internet with a very small included data allowance. Next time please come to reception and let us know you need more dishwashing liquid and soap, we more than happy to provide more if you're staying with us for a while. Sorry to hear the fishing didn't go so well - hopefully next time the whiting will be biting for you!

The caravan park lies along the edge of lovely Venus Bay. We check in at the shop which also serves as the office, and which also serves a very nice coffee and cake! Gloria is very friendly and helpful, and quite charming! Our ‘Pelican’ cabin is at the far end of the camping ground, and is superb, with every mod-con one could wish for, and also, I suspect, brand new. A covered verandah looks out over the Bay. There is a large living area with a settee, dining table and chairs, large flatscreen TV and air conditioner. The kitchen has everything except a dishwasher!! There are two smallish bedrooms, but the main room has a queen bed. Then a shower with vanity, and a separate toilet. A small house! A possible disadvantage is that the wifi reception is very poor, but I overcame that using my mobile hotspot. A hitch was that we had no water in the morning, but a phone call quickly corrected that: ‘The pump decided not to work!’ This is a lovely stopping place.

We have stayed at Venus Bay many times and always enjoy this place. The caravan park has cabins, and parking for mobile homes, caravans and tent sites.
The cabins are all air conditioned, fully furnished, linen, with kitchens and most having en suites. We stay in them and they are very comfortable suitable from 2 people to 6, refer to their website for costs etc.
The fishing is perfect, you can fish off shore, the jetty or hire a boat to fish in the bay. If you like King George Whiting this is the place, Linda and Chris Smith run the park and are so helpful all the time to help you find the fish. They run the shop and take away food and the park outlet, a small supermarket is up the street, and then there is the views from the beaches, cliffs and surrounding areas.
Located on the far west coast of South Australia 8 hours drive from Adelaide, but well worth a stay here, you can swim, boating, rest, walk, fish, meet the locals and stay in comfort at the caravan park for a very reasonable price. Its very popular so you will need to book. Very Family friendly great for kids and the dog is welcome too.
Want to know more give them a call.

Located on the shores of Venus Bay, this holiday park caters for tourists with tent sites, caravan/RV sites and cabins.

Sites aren't grassed, but are covered with sea shells.

We had a quite new cabin with two bedrooms, both with double or queen beds and fully equipped.

They have a little cafe/shop/office on site, but, as it shuts at 6 pm, it's nit good for dinner unless you're an early eater.

There is a licensed cafe across the road, but it shuts at 5pm.

Thank you for staying with us. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. As it is Winter we do shut the shop a bit earlier as this also gives visitors a chance to support the small hotel in the neighbouring town. We appreciate your feedback & hope to see you again another time.
