I've enjoyed my stays at The Margate Resort, this year is our third stay and didn't disappoint. We stayed just before the busy season, and were there for a Harry Potter conference, so the beach was serene and peaceful, and the Beach bar was a favourite destination for meeting up and socialising by the lake. The hospitality is always first class, with special commendations to Ray Smith, who was ever present making sure things ran smoothly, and watching over the bar, lounge, tent, and pool areas for our events. I love the set up of the Lakefront building, with the tunnel leading directly to the main lobby and pool, bar, and lounge areas, as well as direct access to the beach. There are other room options as well, the Inn a short walk across the street and the West buildings, so something for everyone. Though we didn't have time to try swimming or boating on the lake, it is another great option provided by the Margate Resort, with sandy beach area and plenty of docking space. The convenience of nearby shopping and dining as well as onsite restaurant and lounge is another plus. The gym was serviceable, and the pool and hot tub were well appreciated and used throughout our stay.
My husband and I stayed at the Margate a month ago. We went there to check out the environment for a possible wedding reception in the future. We arrived later than expected so when we went exploring all the rooms were locked. We came upon a young man named CJ who was cleaning one of the conference rooms and we asked for his assistance. He was very happy to assist us in looking at the large ball room and Moriah room. He brought us to both areas and answered all of our questions like a pro. He was extremely friendly and knowledgable about many areas of the hotel. If we do book the hotel for our wedding---CJ will have played an important role in making that happen.
The hotel has a gorgeous tented area right on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee. The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. The pool is average but crowded with kids at the time we went. Small fitness center above the pool was nice. Free breakfast in the am had more options than most. Overall great experience. Thank you
Awesome spot and we can't wait to go back. Laid back New England style with a view to die for. Clean rooms, good breakfast and the option to get a massage in the gym. Price was great when comparing with other hotels in the area and the Lake front bar served great food and beverages. Only 5 mins to Meadowbrook.
I am 17 years old and I have been going here since i was born and my parents went for years before they were even married. This hotel and area has always been like a second home to me. The beach is great and the bar is great too. Granted there are a lot of families and people can just walk up onto the beach off their boats. The rooms are not all that up to date besides the TV but it is great for just hanging in on a rainy day and going to bed. The beds are a little small for two full sized people but the rooms themselves' are very spacious. The continental breakfast is very convienent and the staff is very friendly. The indoor pool is a little green and not all the equipment in the gym works but overall it is a great stay. I'm in love with the beach and could stay there all day relaxing, kayaking, paddle boarding and playing lawn games. I would live here if i could. I hope to continue coming for 17 more years!
This resort is rated 4.2 plus and in our opinion should be a 5+!
Staff was very friendly and went out of their way to be sure our stay was enjoyable. From the breakfast staff to the cabana staff to the maid staff, all were wonderful and top notch. The food was really good and reasonably priced. $6.95 for a breakfast buffet that was well prepared and had everything you could ask for.
The Cabana bar staff are some of the best bartenders and servers I have ever had.
The resort is a beautiful and very, very clean as well as the gym, pools and hot tub.
Lots to do for families and gorgeous setting. We loved it all and an on taking our family next summer.
