Funky little place on the cliffs of Oregon coast, about 15-20 minutes south of the quaint town of Yachats. You could cook a full Sunday dinner here, all amenities are there. Our choice was the North View Suite, which sleeps 6, but was just for the 2 of us.
Provided: Full-size frig/freezer, Microwave, stove, oven, dining table for 6, soaps, shampoo, cream rinse, dishes, cooking pots, cutlery. What amazing Views of the ocean!!! We enjoyed all 3 nights after sightseeing sitting in recliners looking out at the roaring ocean and watching the sunset. You could walk down to the beach via stairs and investigate the craggy shoreline. Each night we slept with our windows open and were lulled to sleep by the roar of the ocean waves. Amazing experience! Be aware that because of its remoteness, due to storms and winds power may be lost which affects the toilet flushing and of course the lights/electricity, shower, which happened for a maybe half a day. Happily we were out and about for most of it. Hosts provided jugs of non-potable water to flush the toilet. I do recommend bringing your own potable water for drinking just in case. Finally, should we ever go back to the Oregon coast, THIS IS THE PLACE WE WOULD RETURN TO. The funky colorful decor is a real experience and helped us decide that this was going to be a great experience. A lovely place to stay.
My wife and I stayed here the first night of our honeymoon and have just returned 30 years later. Our old room is now the garage but we liked the new room even more. We stayed in the "South View" room and was very pleased with everything. None of the other places we've stayed at on the coast have a comfortable place to sit and relax but this room has 2 recliners. The bed is very warm and comfortable and the sound of the ocean lulls you to sleep. Before you decide to stay here, you need to understand that this isn't a 5 star chain hotel. It's a very cozy, quiet and comfortable room with a cabin feel and an amazing view. We've traveled the coast many times and have stayed in over $400 a night rooms, and this is still one of our favorites. The owners are very nice and accommodating and we look forward to seeing them again. Be sure to take the stairs to the beach if you're in decent shape.
Ocean Haven is an amazing place! I cannot say enough good things about it. We stayed here for three nights in early September, and had glorious weather… fog in the morning, clearing to sunny skies in the afternoon and gorgeous sunsets. That just added to a sense of timelessness and serenity provided by the view, the quiet, and the unique accommodations. We stayed in Tide Pool which encompasses the front half of the ground floor. Windows abound on three sides with views of the north and south ocean areas. Right out our front door were two benches where we sat and enjoyed pre-dinner snacks. We left our windows open all night in order to enjoy the sound of the waves lulling us to sleep. Rarely have I ever been so relaxed and at peace. Check in was easy with our host bringing us to our room and showing us all the "ins and outs". The hosts are friendly, but not intrusive and we had plenty of privacy. The bed was extremely comfortable as were the sheets and everything we needed was supplied. I really loved the Tazo teas and good choice of coffee! Lots of books are provided…local information, bird books, etc. If you want to go down to the beach, it is a bit tricky, but a fun experience! We were totally alone on the beach and did quite a bit of exploring. My husband even rode some waves (too cold for me!) We brought in dinner two of the nights just so we could relax and bask in the sunsets. The views are just incredible! (P.S. I absolutely love the fact that there was no TV!)
Hands down the best place to stay in Yachats! The rooms are clean, comfortable with endless ocean views. We watched several whales from our room and beautiful sunsets each night, incredible!
The tide pools were amazing right outside the hotel.
My partner and I spent a very special 4 nights at Ocean Haven in the most spectacular room we've ever experienced. The view of the coastline, the intertidal zone, the sea and the sky was truly inspirational. The rooms were in great shape, bed very comfortable, everything clean and kitchen and bathroom very well stocked. The hosts were very cordial, hospitable, helpful and interesting. Our visit was in July, but we certainly look forward to returning both in winter (in the hopes of experiencing a storm) and again in summer.
