We made reservations at Allegheny River campground because of wanting to see the night sky, but have the amenities not available at Cherry Spring State Park. We stayed in site 36 which is water and electric only, but right along the water. It was a perfectly sized spot, with a picnic table and fire ring. This spot also had some shade trees(I took note that some other sites available along the water didn't). We were also close to the bathhouse, and for our small travel trailer this would be a benefit for longer than the 2 nights we were there. There's a large open field where you can view the night sky. There are many doggie cleanup stations, a pool with splashpad, playground, mini golf, a dog park, and if the water had been higher you could have tubed as well. There are 2 dumping stations across from a bathroom area on the way out, and the dumpsters for trash were right there as well. We felt the price was more than reasonable for all they offered, as we have spent an almost comparable amount at state parks. The owners were very kind, and helpful with information on the area and the time to book to come back to see the color change in the fall. We will be back!
We have stayed here a few times but have to look elsewhere. We camp with family that includes college age kids and for 2 adults and 3 over 18 it cost $75 nightly or more. We usually go for fishing season and have never used the pool or any of their other amenities.
This was our first trip here and we had a great weekend! The kids loved the train that is in the middle of the campground. The pool was clean and large! The people were very friendly here- both fellow campers & owners.
Easy to book on line, easy to pull in and park. VERY clean, quiet and located in a beautiful area. We camped along the river with an amazing view and sound of the rushing water. New electric and great water pressure. We thought that lack of a sewer connection would be an issue but they had that covered with a service to pump you out (for a small fee). The owners are very nice and very involved and it shows. We loved the open wide sites with mature trees and lots of light. Bathrooms were very clean and the store stocked with great items. Pool was clean and there is lots for kids to do. We loved that they offer fully restored vintage campers for rent as well as cool tents. We will return!
I have camped all over the USA and The Allegheny River Campground is at the top of my list! Perfect RV, Trailer, or Tent campsites that each have plenty of real estate, or cabins and retro campers to rent for your stay. Situated along the Allegheny River, this campground is very clean and well maintained. The owners/hosts are extremely helpful, and also are really nice people.
There is a rec hall, and also a giant covered shelter with picnic tables underneath for dining or gatherings. Playground equipment for the kiddies. We enjoyed sitting around our nightly campfires. Carolyn arranged to have a local expert come and do a stargazing program. Also, the Potter County chapter of the Fly fishing folks came by and were very patient teachers, showing a bunch of newbies how to tie flies, and also how to cast using the dry fly rods.
We had a blast, and I look forward to my next trip there.
