We found the Inn at Baldwin Creek online while looking for a place to stay when visiting our nephew at Middlebury College. How lucky we were to come across this place. It is so quaint and lovely and the staff is outstanding. We decided to sit at the bar and eat dinner and could not have been more comfortable. The food was fabulous and our bartender, Jay, not only provided excellent service and great tasting beverages, but was fun, knowledgeable and made the night better. We played games at the bar with other guests and had the best time. We were grateful we stayed in and had dinner at the bar. Breakfast was included and was so much more than a typical breakfast away from home. The food was top notch and having Linda serve you is just another bonus, Our room was very quaint and lovely and had it not been November, we would have had a lovely view of the garden. Overall, our stay was lovely and we never expected to feel so at home and comfortable. It was such a nice surprise and we will definitely be back.
One of the fantastic inns we've stayed at in Vermont. Beautiful setting with all the charm of Vermont country. Our room overlooked the gardens and was beautiful. We walked through a few of the gardens, enjoying the greenery. Breakfast was delicious from fruit selection to omelettes. We also enjoyed a fantastic dinner while staying there. The innkeeper and his wife were both charming and interesting people. A guaranteed return visit to this amazing inn.
I was so excited about staying here after seeing all the reviews and comments but left feeling a bit disappointed.
The hotel is off a main road, there is little around and whilst I thought this would be a highlight of the hotel and that we'd have a nice quite relaxing time away, it wasn't the quaint little place it looked like. What we did have instead was a room above a very very busy restaurant. So when we went to bed we heard lots of noise from below, we could hear glasses, plates, chatting etc. so that quiet hide away wasn't what we got at all. It didn't quieten down until the restaurant had closed later that night.
The room we booked was Lauras room and it was small and looked very cosy but it was a little run down. The bed was small and very uncomfortable and the bed/ springs squeaked loudly every time we moved, it was funny at the beginning but a little annoying after a while. The room needs to be refreshed as there is paint peeling right above your bed and the shower/ pressure of water was not great. A big upset was no curtains for the bedroom, which when no-one is around is fine but I found myself having to change in the bathroom as restaurant guests were leaving and our lights were on so people could see in.
We ate at the restaurant and the food was nice, I have to admit to feeling disappointed as I had read so much about it, but it was a little bland or covered in oil and not really for my taste. However breakfast was far better and very enjoyable.
The owners were very friendly, stopped and talked to you and were very hard working. However my over all upset is that we booked a room which is priced high for the area, but the condition, quality of the bed, comfort level is not the best. We stayed in some amazing B&B's in New England and for the same price and in comparison what we received at those was far better.
We stayed at the Inn at Baldwin Creek for our 2 year anniversary. We only live about 20 minutes away, but wanted something romantic and easy. Our room was ready when we arrived, as well as a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies that Doug had baked! The staff was incredibly welcoming and happy that we were there. We had cocktails while wandering the property and checking out the beautiful gardens. Our bartender was amazing and mixed us some great drinks. He has a great personality and kept us very entertained through the evening. Dinner was phenomenal - You can't ask for anything better. My husband had the duck and I had gnocchi.
Breakfast the next morning wasn't just a muffins and cereal type of thing. We had fresh grapefruit, an amazing pastry and then chose off of a great menu for the meal. Doug is an amazing guy and runs a great business. We couldn't be any happier with our stay at the Inn at Baldwin Creek, and will continue to come here for future celebrations.
We also plan to make it a point to visit Mary's more often for their movie nights and other various events.
Thanks so much to all of the great staff!
The most obvious thing is that the inn is in need of refurbishment, including the wobbly chairs in the dining areas.
We stayed in the suite, but it was quite drab with an old carpet, and an ugly green bathmat, that was not of the wash with every new guest variety. The bed, was reasonably comfortable. The bathroom is reasonably updated, but the shower was a challenge. Water pressure and temperature fluctuated. I would also advise that the sink faucets and shower should not be used at the same time. The suite had an adjoining small room with a day bed, but there was no door between the rooms, so no privacy if taking a child. The only closet in the room was in the small room.
There is WiFi and a small TV with DIRECTV service.
Being an old building, the windows are quite small, so don't expect much of a view.
The breakfast menu is quite varied and good portions are served. But a simple breakfast of bacon and eggs is not listed, but can be requested. Skip the home fires. basically parboiled and quick in the pan. Not much taste, lacking any enhancement.
