I spent two nights including New Years Eve, and was impressed with all the staff, the location, with its small bay and beach....sea access, clean pool, and range of comfortable cool rooms.
A day out your round Jacmel town arts and crafts, plus faded french houses, then through the bustling but facinating market, followed by a short walk in the natural hills to swim in crystal clear and refreshing Basson Blue waterfall is highly recommended.
This area is a must on any visit to Haiti if only for the excitement of the scenic journey there!
This was our first time staying at the hotel but we already expected that we would love it from visiting the restaraunt and using the pool many times, we were just waiting for the opportunity to stay. Everything about this hotel is beyond beautiful from the swimming pool and surrounding greenery, the little private and secluded beach cove to the view from the restaurant which is breath taking. I love the food and menu and have never had a disappointing meal and have probably eaten there upwards of twenty times. I also had the most delicious fresh mango juice which I would highly recommend.
We stayed in the basic room to accomadate three of us but there was nothing ‘basic’ about it, firstly they gave us a selection of two rooms a garden view or ocean front so ofcourse we chose ocean front and were literally steps from the ocean, outside there were two rocking chairs to listen to the waves crashing at night, and inside there was everything you would need, there was only a fan and not AC but this worked sufficiently. I can’t wait to return and try a different room next time.
We went to Cyvadier in Jacmel and it was all good. The staff although not very smiley turned out to be very nice and helpful. Their espresso smells delicious and the breadfruit croquettes are worth trying. We were there for 2 nights but ended up spending 3 because there were protests in the streets and it wasnt safe to leave the premises. Instead of getting charged $80 for a late check in we opted to stay an extra night. It is worth mentioning that the owner was ready to make a consideration charging us $60 instead of full price if we had to stay an additional night because of the political unrest circumstances.
He was chatty and nice.
The hotel has cute little spots to hang out by and chill. Employees dont seem happy tho' . Food takes a little time. I liked that they served fruits for breakfast which was included in the price. Watch out for the late check in and the stairs in the pool ! You're gonna wanna take a room with AC.
Beautiful variety of plants on the grounds. Very nice beach and pool. Great restaurant and bar service. Quiet. Went up to the yoga/massage patio to stargaze one night. Saw someone swimming across the cove. There's also a nice hammock to relax in.
If you are visiting the charming if under-developed town of Jacmel, this is a good place to stay. The setting is beautiful and overlooks a cove with views out to the sea where there are usually fishermen. The bedrooms are not luxurious but comfortable and clean and there is air conditioning overnight. When we arrived there was only one bedside light but another was quickly brought. The bathroom we had was basic but had reliable hot water. Our only grouse was that the towels although clean were very ragged.
The terrace where food and drink was served looks out to sea. We thought the food was exceptionally good and the grilled lobster was superb and very modestly priced. The staff there were charming and efficient as was the great guy on reception.
The pool area was bright and as far as we could tell clean. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to anyone staying near Jacmel.
