I cannot tell you why exactly Peg's provides such a great overall experience, except that Eileen seems to have thought it all through and as a result staying there is like being home. Her front room is accessible to all the guests and stocked with lots of local information, the dining table can be used for a game of cards, and breakfast is there when you want it, no fuss, just come and eat! Rooms are nicely done and very clean, a bit small but manageable. Being on Fogo Island was such a joy in all aspects, and staying at Peg's added to that pleasure.

We stayed July 13 and 14, 2010 at Pegs. Gerald and Eileen ,our hosts, were wonderful and so was Pegs B&B. We stayed in the Master Room for $85. It was a very nice, clean ,large ensuite room on the second floor with a great view of the harbour. The full breakfast was $5 pp extra and well worth it. All Eileens breads and jams are homemade.

We had so much fun staying here. We felt very much at home. Gerald , Eileen, Matilda and all the guests were wonderful. Both evenings we sat around and talked to everyone, and one night Gerald agreed to play his Button Accordian. We all sat around for several hours while Gerald played ( he is very good) and then was accompanied by a couple with their guitar and fiddle. Gerald also played some old videos that we watched and enjoyed.

In Fogo, there is a hike up to Brimston Head, and two other hikes as well. Several eating establishments, museums, and lots of beautiful scenery. Also it is close to drive to all the other villages on the island.

We loved it here and cant wait to come back.

We had a great stay at Peg’s place. Eileen is very friendly and gave us lots of advice about hikes around the island and visiting the inn with the free tour. She cooked us a great breakfast each morning with eggs, toast, fruit and various jams. The kitchen was available throughout the day (no access to the stove) which was convenient. Our room was small and the washroom was in the closet but very clean and comfortable. The water in the bathroom and tap was a bit muddy but filtered water was always available in the common area. Fogo is a beautiful place and we would love to return and stay here again!

Eileen, the owner of Peg's Place is the best host possible!
Checking in was a breeze and the room was perfect, on short notice we needed two beds rather than one as hubby had a cold which I tried to avoid.
Eileen gave us the best tips on what to see and do on the island, like watching the sunset from a fantastic spot, or walking around the lions den.
Breakfast was just delicious with fresh home made bread and lots and lots of goodies.
Would come back again and again.

Greater warmly by our host, Eileen and shown to our room with a view of Fogo Harbour. Ask for room 2 when you reserve.

Good simple breakfast to start a day of exploring this fascinating corner of the country.

A few stairs to navigate outside and inside the house.

Within very short walking distances of almost everything, especially Bangbelly for supper.
