A beautiful setting that felt a little off the main tourist path. While it seemed like many people stopped here for one or two days, we stayed 4 nights. It was incredibly peaceful and relaxing. The rooms were a short walk from the dining area. Don’t expect to see the BIG FIVE here but bird life was abundant and there were some other interesting animals around as well. The rooms were clean and had nice views of the area. Plenty of windows with screens meant there was often a nice cross breeze (no air conditioning). They also had a floor fan to help move the hot air out of the room on hot nights. The beds were super firm with nice soft pillows. There were jugs of hot and cold drinking water in the room that they refilled each day. The large eating/bar/common area was open to the breezes with beautiful views of the river, sunset, and the small water feature they maintained. The food was served buffet style and was excellent with the evening meal introduced in the local language (and English). We also enjoyed getting to know the other visitors during the meals that were held at a communal table. We enjoyed the game drives, walks and relaxing by the pool. They were having some infrastructure issues while we were there but nothing too major (eg. electrical system needed servicing so there were a few minor interruptions in electricity) and they were working on it.

Hi Shannon! Thank you for the kind words and for understanding when we had electrical problems (which have been solved since). Usually guests become irritable and find critique when they stay for such a long period, but you and Greg were absolute troopers and a pleasure to host. Best wishes for 2020 from a fellow bookworm.

Website appearance for this place is quite deceiving. It is no way close to being as good as it looks on TV. The place is simply just not good and not worth the money and quite over priced for a below average establishment. I arrived there with my family for a 1 night stay, but after seeing the place including our room and spending 10 minutes there we rather decided it is better to lose our money than stay there. Rooms are very basic and far from restaurant and bar area. The so-called pool should not be called a pool but a water pond. The road to the lodge is horrible. No wifi and no phone reception. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Huab Lodge is a calm oasis in the heart of a beautiful region. Catering for just a handful of guests each in nicely appointed thatched villas this is an ideal retreat from our busy world. The manager and team are focused on making the stay right and are also unobtrusive when not required. The pool area is small but well maintained and other public areas are tidy and welcoming. This lodge is surrounded by beautiful land, but it's not a private game reserve so don't expect game drives.

nothing special but suprised by the rude threatment by the ranger who didn't allow us to join a game drive because the Jeep was full........although it was easy to squeeze in. Also the Pool was dirty no regularly cleaning at all.

Dear Jan Thank you for your feedback. Although you visited in 2018 before I became manager, I make it a point of following up on all guest comments. I am sorry that you had a negative experience with us, but I was informed by the guide and other staff that you could not decide up until the deadline that you wanted to join the nature drive. When all other guests were on board the game viewing vehicle and they were departing, you than ran up to them and insisted on joining the drive, together with your party. Unfortunately the vehicle was full and there was no time to arrange for a second driver and second vehicle for your party. It would have been unfair to the other guests to hold them up, and also to "squeeze into the vehicle" as you suggested. I hope you appreciate the fact that remote lodges such as Huab Lodge sometimes have limited resources in people and vehicles, and also that we have to stick to pre-arranged rules and schedules in order to make a visit pleasant and memorable to everyone. As for the pool: you visited during our dry season, when the wind blows regularly and dry leaves from millions of mopane trees in the area blow around, and sometimes even end up in the pool. It is an impossible task to keep the pool clean. The cement lining of the pool is kept as natural as possible and no blue suburban pool appearance should be expected. We hope that you will visit us again and help us to make your visit a wonderful experience.

It’s 30km drive off the main road but when you get here the scenery and setting is stunning . It’s so peaceful and quite here . We Stayed 2 nights and had a very relaxing stay . When we arrived we were welcomed with a complimentary juice and there is unlimited complimentary tea coffee and biscuits .
They have a swim pool and loungers around the swim pool and loungers on the balcony of the lodges . They have a hot spring which was so lovely to relax in . We mostly had the swim pool and hot spring to ourselves . The lodge is eco friendly. The rooms were very spacious and clean and we all got a double bed each .
Dinner in the evening is at a set time for everyone at 7.30 and all the guests sit together with the staff and manager . which was very nice and sociable . On the first night we had sweet corn soup then there was grilled beef and pork with rice and 3 tasty vegetables . Mains was buffet style so you could help yourself to more .
In the morning we did the guided walk and watched the sun rise . The cost of the guided walk was reasonable at less than £7pp. Breakfast was buffet style and there was porridge which was a nice change . We paid extra to have lunch which was also very tasty . Sticky Chicken wings and lots of salad but it would have been nice to also be offered some sort of carbohydrate with lunch . Eg bread or rice or potato. Staff were friendly. They even washed our car after arrival to the lodge as it was full of dust .
WiFi was very strong
Negatives were
No safe in rooms
Bathrooms have no curtains so felt a bit exposed whilst showering although I don’t think many people walk round the back I would have preferred a curtain
Overall would recommend this place
