We only stayed two nights, our purpose being to visit the Caverne Pont d'Arc (or Grotte Chauvet), the newly opened (April 2015) reproduction of a nearby cave with 36,000 year-old rock paintings, but we thoroughly enjoyed it and are glad we booked there. The guesthouse is close to the local centre of Vallon Pont d'Arc, on the Ardeche river and thus close to plenty of activities.
The rooms all have a colour theme. Ours was Jasmine and was barrel-vaulted in stone, as are others. It all lends a very atmospheric and romantic touch. We thought that Diny and Pieter, the extremely friendly, helpful and pleasant Dutch owners, had built the house in that fashion but, no,we gather from them that the building is 500 years old and was built like that. Our room was one of the originals.
As we were there in July, breakfast was taken al fresco around a communal table in the courtyard which was a good way to meet our fellow guests - a mixture of Dutch, Belgian and French. The breakfast spread itself was extremely good and generous. Diny even provided porridge one morning! There's a kitchen where you can keep your own supplies of, say, wine, in the refrigerator. They also have wine for sale. In addition there is a comfortable lounge alcove.
Back in the room, the bathroom area is curtained off, thus adding to the rustic charm of the stone work.
We thoroughly recommend La Flor Azul if you are visiting the Ardèche region or just passing through and if we return to that area we will certainly look to stay there.
The only reason we haven't given it a 5-Star rating is because, with temperatures around the mid- to upper-30s Centigrade, there was no fan available to cool the room. We had to leave the room door, which opened directly onto to the courtyard, open all night, as well as the two small windows in the bathroom area, in order to get any ventilation. Otherwise La Flor Azul provides just about everything you might need in a guesthouse.

We stayed here in august 2013 for a few nights whist travelling France. Friendly hosts who were very helpful on advising points of interest / places to visit in the area. Clean room, good plentiful breakfasts outside in the courtyard area. Food available at a nearby café or a very nice restaurant in the village too. Also small supermarket just over the road. Good value for money, would stay again if lucky enough to get back to this wonderful area. Go visit them !

We stayed with Diny and Pieter in June 2012, sadly for only one night, on our way south. We are always looking for stunning chambre d'hôtes in France as we have been exploring the country for a number of years now and La Flor Azul does not disappoint. We weren't looking for a holiday area and it wasn't until we left in the morning and drove through the beautiful Gorge d'Ardeche, that we realised how much there is to do within literally a few minutes drive.

The room was like something out of a medieval castle, but with mod cons! The atmosphere was to die for - we had booked the Valentine package which included a champagne reception, and the meals served in the luxury of your room. Alternatively you can opt for the normal package and eat alfresco with the other guests in the magical courtyard.

Currently Diny and Pieter are building a salon to extend the facilities on offer to their guests. This did not detract from our stay and we would love to come back and see the finished result.

The food was outstanding. We run a ski chalet and understand food, and we have already stolen one idea for our menu! We loved the warm goat's cheese on gingerbread and honey. If you are on an activity holiday in the region, the breakfast will give you fuel for the whole day and more! It is very substantial and varied.

Diny and Pieter are perfect hosts. They are attentive but not overbearing and they made us both feel so welcome in their home.

We will be back and wish them every success in the future as they deserve it.

Very nice and different BB. The rooms are in a very old French stone house, furnished and decorated with good taste. Breakfast was tasty & satisfying.
We took two rooms as a couple + 3 little girls(5,8,10) and everyone enjoyed, but it is also recommended as a romantic room for couples…
The couple Dinny & Pieter speaks good English( also Dutch) which is very helpful in France for non French speakers. Very friendly and willing to help.
They have made the coordination with the canoe company and also gave us 10% discount on that.
About 10 – 15 minutes from the Ardech, canoes & Vallon pont d'arc. Restaurant with reasonable food & price is near by.
Very Fair price. Warmly recommended.
