If you are looking for luxury, you've got the wrong place. If you are drawn to an authentic experience and an escape to a lost world, you've found it. Even though the high-humidity kills me, I rank it as a must-do. You won't get here by road, you take a motorized canoe to the beautiful thatched-roof lodge, hidden on the Napo shores by the soaring trees of Amazonia. The main building has a large dining room where you eat all meals ... including lantern-lit dinners. The tables are stunning slices of trees and the meals are ample and tasty. The lounge holds beautiful ceremonial wood-carved furniture and an open fire box of indigenous design which provides light but also keeps the bugs away (ask them their secret!). There is also a bar in it's own section which has seating overlooking the river.

The cabins are away from the main building following a walking path. Each building holds 2 high-roofed, no-electricity cabins with private baths, and candles ready to go. The cabins have twin beds, wood floors and are basic but comfortable. There is a hammock on the porch of each one. There are no mosquito nets (I brought my own) and you should be careful to not let bugs into your room. (Bring a flashlight or headlamp and good bug spray - there's malaria in the region.) The walls of the cabins are curtained mesh... so the sounds, breezes, rains and thunder of the rainforest are right there. This is magical. I was in cabin 5-2 - we had a fab thunderstorm and a nearby lightning strike and in the morning a whole troup (about 20) of spider monkeys traveled past our cabin in the treetops and even on the wires. Great sight!

We took nature, culture and discovery tours with Saul - he was so patient and willing to teach us. Translation was needed by our English guide. Many thanks, Saul. We also went to amaZOOnico to see the rescued animals... amazing. Best buy - locally-made authentic blow dart gun from their bar/store.

Room Tip: I loved cabin 5 - the furthest to lug your luggage, but the a great 'lost in the woods'...

we spent 2 nights at Líana Lodge and felt quite well. You can go into the kitchen and looking how they are preparing the delicious food. You eat with candle light everything is organized. You can sit on a veranda at the shore of the river watching the wild monkeys. The tours were interesting and also made fun for our 10 years old daughter. You can let your car at the "harbour" for the days and the lodge will pick you up there by boat.
The doble-cabins are nice, no electricity - but that´s jungle.Only 2 things have to become better: You hear everything of your cabin neighbour and for a three persons room there is only one chair at the veranda. But after all: We really enjoied our stay.

Liana lodge is an excellent facility run by people who clearly care greatly for the environment it is set in. Being collected by a canoe and taken down river to the lodge is everything you expect of an amazon adventure.

A stay typically includes all meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner, which are prepared to a very high standard. Portions are good and there is wine and beer available from the bar.

We stayed in a private cabin, open but fully protected with mosquito netting with en suite bathroom, complete with hot water.

There are a selection of tours, led by local guides with an excellent knowledge of local flora and fauna through primary rainforest, something lacking from other nearby lodges. And after a hike through the humidity, the opportunity to float back down river in inner tubes is something definitely not to be missed. There is also the option to visit nearby amazoonica, where you can see efforts to rehabilitate formerly captive animals back to the wild.

The overall experience was absolutely outstanding. The facility is so well set up and yet unobtrusive on the local environment which is some achievement considering it really is in the thick of the rainforest.

Absolutely fantastic and recommended without question.

We spent 3 days at the Liana Lodge enjoying the activities. I definitely recommend Ceibo and the night walk where you can see spiders and other small scaring :-) animals. I would not focus a daily program on Amazoonico which is interesting, but considering the proximity to the lodge you can do it every time. I do not recommend to do the Pacaro tour we did separately and were charged I think $18 each which in my view is not value for money.

Regarding the lodge.
Food is good but not so great like I've read in other reviews.
The rooms are nice, small and very simple which doesn't constitute a problem. What is not good is that there is no complete separation with the other room and this can create some inconveniences for instance if on the other side there are great snorers...

Overall good, the poor rating due to the fact that the room may become very uncomfortable missing a complete separation with other guests.

Fantastic experience, getting there from Quito required a bus then canoe down the river into the jungle. Great food, wonderful atmosphere in the dining room. A visit to the animal refuge is a must and a worthy donation.Falling asleep after blowing out the candles ( and checking the bed for spiders and bugs)listening to the jungle noises if fantastic experience. I could have watched the monkeys playing in the trees around the cabin all day!
