This was our first stay at Dockside Retreat. What a wonderful surprise. We stayed for several days in mid-August. Booking was a dream: you can even check availability on the website, which is kept up to date. That said, I recommend emailing Daphne as well, as she is super-prompt and cancellations happen. When our arrival was substantially delayed (several times), Daphne took it all in stride, no trouble at all. She was so accommodating - I can't say enough about this.

We stayed in the Sunrise suite: gorgeous, spacious (bedroom with glass doors that can shut, living room with comfy large couch, fully stocked kitchen, and even a separate sunroom), and really intended for adults. When my husband and I had a child with us, no problem, Daphne didn't bat an eyelash and instead produced a cot for the sunroom. She even bought kid cereal, in addition to the incredible spread that was already there, when she realized a child was staying! My son was thrilled.

The room was cool even during the hot summer temperatures (mid to high 20s). Daphne has fans set out just in case. Little luxuries are everywhere: the muffins in the heavy glass cake-stand, specialty soaps and shampoos (I almost never use hotel shampoos, but this was good stuff, for color-treated hair), heavy terry cloth robes, sparkling water, etc. I even took pictures of all the books that were set out about the suite, as I was inspired to read them (which I’d had more time)! Daphne checked on us to see if we needed anything, without ever being intrusive at all.

We ate breakfast in our robes on the large deck overlooking the water while my son swam in the lengths pool (has a current so you can swim against it). Drank wine on the loungers in the late afternoon. We were there on weekdays, so we had the deck to ourselves. My son sat on the wharf and studied crabs along the shoreline. A few houses down in a beach (with a roped off area for swimming) and a trail for walking, jogging, etc. Daphne offered us access to a 'cinema room' which is sound-proof, to watch a film, but we never got around to it.

I honestly can't think of any constructive criticism. The hospitality and attention to detail was incredible from start to finish. We will return, and recommend to our most discerning friends.

I must begin by saying this is our second trip to Dockside. Our first stay was truly incedible but our second.....the only word that meets the bar...magical. First stay was 3 days...this time around was an entire week. From the first step through the threshold to waving goodbye to our hostess Daphne...yes...it was magical. The views, the space, the thoughtful touches( Which Daphne excels at)the pool and hotub....at dusk especially...it all was just.....you got it...magical.
If you want to unplug,relax,unwind,forget,re-load....this is the place. Thank you Daphne and Michael. You are the reason this Retreat is so special.

We have been going to a B&B in Port Moody for years but this time it was booked so we took a chance with The Dockside. Dockside had a lot to live up to because of how fond we were of our usual B&B.....will it did and then some. The owner and host was so welcoming and authentic!

The suite we stayed in felt like a luxury hotel suite but with more warmth and coziness. Every detail was looked after. The suite had a wonderful sun room that we had our coffee in the morning and read our books. Hot tub and heated swimming pool. Sweeping views of the Burrard inlet. Crazy comfortable bed and linens. A veritable cornucopia of breakfast items of high quality.

We booked three days but wanted to stay more but alas she was booked. We left feeling a little guilty because we don't think we will be returning.....to our usual B&B.

We would defineately recommend The Dockside Retreat and will be going back ourselves soon.

I stayed at Dockside the night before my wedding with my mom and sister, got ready at dockside with my 5 bridesmaids and mom and stayed the night of my wedding with my husband and each night was spectacular. Daphne went out of her way to make us feel comfortable - insisting she bring us lunch to ensure we all had enough to eat, brought me gluten-free and vegan treats to ensure I could have something fun, made the suite spotless after my make-up and hairstylist left the place in a frenzy and provided us with a beautiful place that made my day so special. If it weren't for Daphne and the beautiful property, my day wouldn't have been near as special. This place has a wonderful bed, a huge living space, great kitchen area, spare private sitting room and a beautiful patio with a pool and hottub!!

We walked into the Dockside Suites and were "wowed" by the beautiful decor and all of the special touches that Daphne did for our stay. I noticed the wonderful aroma in the suites and it just continued to get better as she showed us around. Beautiful fresh tulips, wonderful chocolates, fruit and pastries for the morning, cheese and crackers, and wine on ice for our arrival. All the little touches made it so special. Candles lit at night outside for the hottub and around the patio. Cozy soft towels and bathrobes to use. We were here from MN for a wedding at the Old Orchard Hall 2 blocks away. It was perfect! Loved the fireplaces in the bedrooms and the cozy sitting room looking out to the water. Daphne was nice enough to drive us into town one evening and pick us up. The pool table was nice to have for an added activity. Everything was comfortable and top of the line. We couldn't have asked for anything better! Both Daphne and Michael were very pleasant to talk with - wish we could have visited more with them! Thank you for everything - it was a treat to stay at such an awesome Retreat!
Peggy, Jim, Alex and Great from Minnesota - Hope to be back sometime in the near future!
