This was our first stay at Dockside Retreat. What a wonderful surprise. We stayed for several days in mid-August. Booking was a dream: you can even check availability on the website, which is kept up to date. That said, I recommend emailing Daphne as well, as she is super-prompt and cancellations happen. When our arrival was substantially delayed (several times), Daphne took it all in stride, no trouble at all. She was so accommodating - I can't say enough about this.

We stayed in the Sunrise suite: gorgeous, spacious (bedroom with glass doors that can shut, living room with comfy large couch, fully stocked kitchen, and even a separate sunroom), and really intended for adults. When my husband and I had a child with us, no problem, Daphne didn't bat an eyelash and instead produced a cot for the sunroom. She even bought kid cereal, in addition to the incredible spread that was already there, when she realized a child was staying! My son was thrilled.

The room was cool even during the hot summer temperatures (mid to high 20s). Daphne has fans set out just in case. Little luxuries are everywhere: the muffins in the heavy glass cake-stand, specialty soaps and shampoos (I almost never use hotel shampoos, but this was good stuff, for color-treated hair), heavy terry cloth robes, sparkling water, etc. I even took pictures of all the books that were set out about the suite, as I was inspired to read them (which I’d had more time)! Daphne checked on us to see if we needed anything, without ever being intrusive at all.

We ate breakfast in our robes on the large deck overlooking the water while my son swam in the lengths pool (has a current so you can swim against it). Drank wine on the loungers in the late afternoon. We were there on weekdays, so we had the deck to ourselves. My son sat on the wharf and studied crabs along the shoreline. A few houses down in a beach (with a roped off area for swimming) and a trail for walking, jogging, etc. Daphne offered us access to a 'cinema room' which is sound-proof, to watch a film, but we never got around to it.

I honestly can't think of any constructive criticism. The hospitality and attention to detail was incredible from start to finish. We will return, and recommend to our most discerning friends.

We arrived on a late flight to Vancouver airport which was yet further delayed and did not get to the Dockside Retreat until past midnight. Even so, we were warmly welcomed by Daphne which was most appreciated after the long trip and what a delight the Sunrise suite was - spacious, tastefully and comfortably decorated with a fire-place and a cozy sitting area. Fresh muffins and other edible treats in a well stocked kitchenette was perfect for those jet lagged moments. We felt like treasured guests at a beautiful home. We awoke from a restful sleep, attributed to the comfy bed, to a tranquil and beautiful view over the inlet.
Just sorry we didn't stay longer and will miss Lola, the resident adorable canine. Really the best B&B I have stayed at and beyond expectations.

I stayed at Dockside the night before my wedding with my mom and sister, got ready at dockside with my 5 bridesmaids and mom and stayed the night of my wedding with my husband and each night was spectacular. Daphne went out of her way to make us feel comfortable - insisting she bring us lunch to ensure we all had enough to eat, brought me gluten-free and vegan treats to ensure I could have something fun, made the suite spotless after my make-up and hairstylist left the place in a frenzy and provided us with a beautiful place that made my day so special. If it weren't for Daphne and the beautiful property, my day wouldn't have been near as special. This place has a wonderful bed, a huge living space, great kitchen area, spare private sitting room and a beautiful patio with a pool and hottub!!

Room Tip: I stayed in her larger suite and it felt like home - so much space and so beautiful.

We booked Dockside retreat for our wedding night as well as the nights before and after, since it was close to our venue. It was a great choice! In the kitchen we found a bottle of wine, excellent pastries, chocolates, plenty of coffee to drink on the patio and much more. Daphne was an excellent host and left us a beautiful bouquet of flowers when she found out we were there for our wedding. Her husband and son- sorry I forgot their names!- we also very hospitable and set us up to use their kayaks to tour the inlet. There is also an outdoor hot tub overlooking the water, comfy sitting room and big, cozy bed, robes for each of us... My only regret is that we didn't get to spend enough time here since we were running wedding errands all weekend. We will definitely be back soon for a mini-retreat. Highly recommended! Thanks a lot!
