Gorgeous setting set up in an old area overlooking this small village. Menu of the day is only served on the terrace and although the inside looks splendid the terrace is the place to be on a summers day. Service is good once they have seen you. Might be worth making yourself known before sitting if quiet. Good selection at...

We booked the Auberge during our holiday in France. The room we were allocated on the rather chilly welcome at reception was number 10 on the top floor, or rather, in the attic. The room was small, the bed was small, the bathroom was small (sitting room only in the bath!) and the staircase to the top floor was small...

Beautiful little village and hotel building is in great condition given its age. Dinner was excellent as was breakfast (continental) and I found all staff friendly. Wifi was ok (free) and I would without doubt return, but ask for a room with a shower rather than bath.

It was only as this was the only restaurant open in Bec Hellouin that we ventured in as we had been advised against - and with good reason. Incredibly unwelcoming and rude waiter, over priced and badly cooked food. And then, despite having asked for tap water being asked to pay 5.5E for a bottle of Vittel. It's a shame...

An excellent small hotel in an historic village. The room we had was one off the interior courtyard and was extremely comfortable. The evening meal was first class-4 courses for 41 euros. I had the trio of lamb whilst my wife had the poularde de bresse (5 euro extra). The local well known cheeses-LIvarot, Pont l'Eveque and Camambert were in...

We found this restaurant on the internet and as it was situated just off the motorway south of Rouen decided to book for Sunday lunch en route back to Calais from the Loire Region. We were very surprised to see such a huge Monastery in the village and several other eating establishments which indicates this village is well visited. On...

The horrific innkeepers of 'Les Mis' fame, the Thenardiers, operate this establishment. We were on a bike tour of France, and this is a beautiful little town, however, this is the only place to stay there, and we did read the reviews but they were mixed and the pictures a bit deceptive. We arrived at 3 p.m., tired from biking...

Little ten-room operation in the hamlet of Le Bec Hellouin, whose raison d’être is to provide a bed for patrons of the associated ambitious restaurant. Front door is locked and will not be opened or answered until 4PM, no exceptions. But once admitted, you must be ready to immediately inform the management of both what time you intend to take...

Comfortable stopover en route to South-West France. Had booked our room and table for dinner by telephone several weeks in advance and contrary to the experience of some others, found everything exactly as we expected. We had paid our deposit as requested by the hotel and received a confirmation of its payment from the hotel by email that same day....

This is a lovely hotel just around the corner from the fascinating Abbé de Bec Hellouin. We were welcomed and shown to our room, (stairs a bit awkward and need care!) then enjoyed chilled drinks in the sunny courtyard garden behind the hotel. Our room overlooked the front, but it's a quiet village and there was very little road noise....
