I wrote a review for this hotel several years ago. I gave it 5 stars. We have visited the property 4 times now and I could not let management get away without writing an additional review on our most recent stay. Suggesting we were disappointed with our stay would be understating the extremity of the situation. Considering the pandemic and all that a resort needs to do to comply with CDC health standards management of any resort has its hands full. Proper management can make this happen, but there is no management here. If you read the most recent reviews management continues to fail even though they are well aware of the miserable vacations they have supplied several of their most recent visitors. If you are going to be open, then at least do not overbook the hotel and keep it manageable for your great staff to oversee. These are the most fundamental issues. Everyone that works at the hotel is marvelous in terms of attitude and their desire to help. The problem is there just are not enough staff members. The restaurants, front desk, concierge, maintenance, etc. Everything is short-staffed. Moreover, the amenities are basically only half available. They are 100% occupied, but ill-equipped for anything and everything. Limited food, no reservations available for basically any restaurants, boathouse, water park, etc. etc. If you are able to get into a restaurant you better have a snack first as the wait times sometimes have exceeded 1 hour. Any recent reviews that say otherwise are fake reviews. There was not one meal in which frustration did not set in due to long waits. The grounds of this property continue to be amazing and have always been beautiful, but they become a waste when you can not even use the grounds. We were there for 7 days but could not get a time for our kids to hit the water park or boathouse without a major hassle. Everything about this hotel used to be 10 stars just like it is ranked. It used to be one of the highest regarded hotels of all. It no longer deserves any type of status in the elite category. The service is subpar due to being understaffed and management/leadership does not exist. This is not the St. Regis that we have stayed at previously. A hotel that we have visited 4 times in the last 7 years will no longer be on our list. Hopefully one day Marriot will provide them with the proper assistance. This used to be my favorite SPG visit. I hate writing negative reviews and certainly, the pandemic has contributed to some of the issues, but if you are going to be at 100% capacity you have to be ready, they are not and not close to it. Go elsewhere until you know they have rectified the situation. I have no doubt they will, however as of April 2021 they are not ready to give you the vacation you deserve.

I see all the negative reviews and complaining from other guests. I have to believe most of those are fake. I'm here with my wife and 9 year old in early April 2021. Yes you can tell there is a lack of staff in some places like the pool. It might take a bit to place an order. But you can always walk up to the bar and order. Food and drinks come out within minutes. Breakfast was NEVER an issue. We tried 8:00, 9:00 and 9:30. We were seated promptly and service was A+. Alexandria was nothing short of amazing. Lunch at Sea grapes was delicious and easy. Getting a waiter to you poolside spot can take 20 minutes but never a big deal. Dinner every night, our reservations were held, seated promptly and service was awesome. Most recent negative reviews are from these lifetime double platinum Marriott blah blah guests who expect a personal butler. Come on y'all loosen your expectations. We stopped an bought $150 worth of food to keep in our room as a backup plan after reading reviews. Our housekeeping will be able to keep almost all of it since service, deliver and food was top notch. Come stay here. Have a great time. Ignore the negative reviews. Not a cheap place.

Wow! Gorgeous property but that is it. This place is a rip off for the price. The service was nonexistent. Check-in was a nightmare... we were greeted by the luggage attendants and they told us to sit in the lobby to be called. We waited for an hour before More luggage attendants came to tell us we could change in the spa and they’d watch our luggage while our room was prepped. We waited another 3 hours for the room. We made reservations for the “sushi” restaurant in the hotel and we got there 15 mins early and they hadn’t ever heard of us. We had talked to the restaurant on the phone to confirm the reservation? we barely dealt with the pool service as we found out quickly we had to wait on ourselves. We ended up buying our own alcohol and going to the beach club pool that was adults only. Service wasn’t any better but it was quieter and beautiful over there. There is ZERO concierge. You must reserve excursions yourself. They offer no help. Even with dinner reservations at the on-site restaurants you should call the restaurant directly ... Reserve a car rental in advance! The resort can’t help you and Nothing is easy here, everything is booked or extremely slow... we get island time but this is extreme... As Marriott platinum members this was the most disappointing Marriott vacation we’ve ever experienced. A lot of money for zero benefits... we spent a ton of money and will not stay again. Buyer beware.

First off I do realize that we are still in the midst of Covid Pandemic. Also I would like to state that I have traveled all over and stayed at literally thousands of hotels. I am a Hilton LIfetime DIamond and was working to build up my Marriott Status so I decided to stay at this resort. Had tons of reviews and also looked really nice. So I booked this hotel using Marriot Points. I was excited and looking forward to this stay. This was not worth the 500k points. I wasted all these points. So the experience pretty much started at the bottom with Checkin. We arrived and the receptionist was on the phone and another one was dealing with some guest that were complaining....so that was the first warning sign. The receptionist told me to sit down in the main lobby and finally got off the phone. Once I was there she wasn't welcoming or even nice. During checkin we needed to provide the Covid test results which had not come in yet due to the uptick in testing. I am vaccinated and that does not matter. She then hands me the key and tells me we have to walk to our rooms in the middle of the night. This property is very large and we have never been here before. They would not take us on the golf cart since we did not have our results back. I understand that but there was no assistance offered beyond this. So I had to walk with my family basically in the dark to find a room. I had to stop multiple times and ask regular guest where the room was. We get to the room and everything looked fine. So we went to bed. Now comes the best part! We get up and get ready and head to breakfast. First off there is a LONGGGGG LINE to get to eat. After waiting 20 minutes they finally seat us. Then we waited even longer. I had to flag someone down to get someone to take our order after 15 minutes. Once we finally get the food an hour later it was crap. I mean it was not good at all. And the whole time you have to be aware that you will have to guard your food because the black birds there are ridiculous. Like TONS of black birds. Doesn't make me feel like the place is sanitary either. Also tried to get the Grab and Go stuff by the bar and had the yogurt with Granola. This was rotten. Took one bite and had to spit it out. So dining in the morning was worse than going to Denny's. At the pool there is no service. I finally just got up to get my drinks since no one was really available. We ordered lunch at the cabana's and this was awful too. I mean this is suppose to be the St. Regis and I get better food at Wendy's or McDonalds. And again the whole time you cannot move if you are eating as the Birds will attack the food even if you turn your head. So not pleasant at all. This was the case with the pool everyday. We found a little relief by going to the Golf Course Grill that is meant for the golfers at the turn. The food was better here and no waiting. So we ending up only eating here since all the other places were packed and food was crap. Also you need to watch your bill. They tried to charge us a couple times for things we did not order or even overcharged for drinks. one bill they tried over charging over 300 dollars but I caught it and asked them why? She said it was a mistake but the way she did it was obviously something she was trying to squeeze by. The concierge was bad also. Tried to request a couple activities and they just decided not to return my calls. And if you need an uber or taxi you will have to wait a long time. This property is literally away from everything. The main restaurant upstairs was OK. The bottom sushi restaurant only has a couple different types of fish they try to dress up with different sushi rolls. So that wasn't that great. The Room was fine but the tub was not working properly and the shower head on one of the shower heads was broken and would not stay up. Also cleaning was not great either. Bathroom had stuff on the walls that looked like spider webs...but wasn't sure. I just left it there. Overall the staff and the whole experience was a bust. Staff was not great and the food and overall experience was bad. And I will never book another St. Regis again. On check out the person didn't even ask how was my stay. She was rushing to get me out it felt like. And during this whole time I did not complain. I shouldn't have to.

My husband and I stayed at this location in March. We're used to staying in luxury hotels when on vacation and this one is not one. The grounds are beautiful and clean, very modern decor, it LOOKS the part but the service and food are lacking. The staff is very friendly, nice and always apologetic but no one ever does anything to correct the issues. We'd have to wait at least 1hr for food everyday, room service orders were frequently misplaced or you'd receive the wrong order. Food options are also limited, only 1.5 restaurants and the food is OKAY. You're better off going off the grounds for food. Getting efficient service was also very difficult. We'd have to chase servers down to get a drink order by the pool filled. Aside from it taking 30+mins to get a drink. There also isn't any entertainment at the hotel. Many mornings I'd have to call for 20+mins to get a breakfast order in, no one would ever pick up the phone. If you ever spoke with someone at reception, they can't book anything for you such as dinner or activities, they say "they have to put in a request" and would never get back to you! I would not stay here again considering the price and the service received. They also don't try to compensate for their mistakes, with a free drink or ANYTHING to validate you for the major inconveniences caused. Even at checkout when I was asked how was my stay, I was honest and all they said was "So sorry to hear that" and proceeded to wish me safe travels. So goes to show how much they care, I've received better service and experience at cheaper hotels.
