The room was lovely . the strornaway blackpudding the best in the world and a wonderful surprise to find so far south . All the staff were superb and went the extra mile to be helpful just what the doctor ordered for a couple of nights away after a spell in hospital. food excellent.

My husband and I have visited a few times for a drink but were looking forward to dining in the Bistro. My husband had the home cured pastrami which looked like cold fatty boiled beef. My cheese soufflé was served in a large pool of green sauce which was very off putting. My shoulder of lamb was without seasoning and...

We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your meal and that it did not meet your expectations. We are surprised though by your comments as our chef and restaurant has just been awarded 2 AA Rosettes and our staff have not received any complaints. However we do regret that you did not have the experience you had...

We stayed here for one night only which was too short! Lovely stay with fab breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. Was great as they accept dogs - and I personally prefer (smelly or otherwise) dogs over smelly and badly behaved kids!

We have been going to The Pheasant Inn for many years as a family so it was the perfect place to celebrate my mum's 60th birthday. Six of us met there for Sunday lunch in The Fell Restaurant and it was absolutely perfect. From the drinks we enjoyed in the bar through to the beautiful lunch in the dining room,...

Having enjoyed a very good meal in the bistro, served by pleasant and efficient staff, we went through to the bar for a final drink before returning home. As soon as we entered the bar the smell of two dogs was very offensive. We decided to go straight through to the small lounge only to find a couple of diners...

Thank-you for your feedback and our sincere apologies you did not have the experience you should have done. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your meal but are very sorry to hear your visit to the bar was not as enjoyable. Whilst we are dog friendly, dogs are only allowed in four of our rooms and the bar....

Lovely meal for pretty standard pub prices. Wives all available in 1/2 litre as well as a bottle which I thought was impressive. Delicious food especially the black pudding scotch egg! Great service and locally sourced food. Lovely bar for a drink. Don't recommend the Creme brulee though. ...a twist on a classic which wasn't pleasant.

As we had only a short time to eat before attending a concert in Cockermouth, my friend double checked that they were serving hot food from 6pm. He was assured that they were, so we booked a table for 6pm. We arrived at 10 minutes to 6 and were asked to wait in the bar. We ordered drinks and were...

I heard about the Pheasant inn from a colleague so thought I would try it for my evening meal. I was welcomed by very friendly staff whereby I was passed the menu to choose my meal. I wanted a pint of beer but was unsure which one to have as they had 3 real ales on tap, I was offered...

It's like going back in time. It's a traditional old style Lakeland pub/restaurant. We loved sitting in the lounge with the open fire. It was like sitting in somebody's sitting room! It was lovely and quiet and atmospheric. Perfect after a winters walk.
