We stayed at Link House for 2 nights and can highly recommend the property. It is a beautiful house that has been modernised in keeping with it's age. It has everything that the modern traveler needs (WFI and phone signals may cause some problems) but not an issue for us. It was nice to have a sitting room for residents use...

We suspect that Rowan may have been a drill-sergeant or headmaster in a previous life. Everything about this set up implies that the guests are an unwelcome addition to Link House. We had the most frosty greeting we've ever had to any hotel, anywhere in the world and we travel a lot with our jobs. There is repeated mention of...

I've stayed at Link House on two occasions in recent years. The house is well located with splendid views of surrounding hills. The bus to Cockermouth in one direction and Keswick in the other, stops right outside, so arriving and touring by car is not essential. We managed a circular tour via Keswick, Coniston, Ulverston, Barrow and Workington all by...

I just needed a stopover on the way north, and arrived weary after 4 hours hard driving. I was offered a welcome tray of tea and shown to a nice warm room. All the furnishings and bathroom were new and spotless, and even a Hairdryer and adequate mirrors! Plenty leaflets about where a tourist could visit, and maps and light...

8 of us stayed for 3 nights at Link House and we loved it. Rowan was very helpful when I initially booked and we were all pleased with our accommodation. Spotlessly clean and nicely decorated rooms. Room 7 (twin) had a lovely en-suite bathroom with both bath and shower. Lovely breakfast each morning, and our host was so friendly and...

Stayed here for one night with my other half and little girl who is 21 months as it was a close by location whilst we attended a wedding at armathwaite hall. On arrival the owner Rowan was very pleasant, showed me around and let us check in early and drop off bags. I pre ordered breakfast for the next morning...

Link house is a lovely bed and breakfast with fantastic views and a very friendly host (Rowan). We were in room 1 where we could see the mountains and had a nice view of the new born lambs in the field next door. The room was clean and very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Well worth a visit.

I was working up at lakes distillery and needed a place to stay. This is literally a stones throw away. Lovely house, nice rooms and excellent service. Plenty of parking at the rear. Very close to an excellent pub that serves top notch food. Thanks again Rowan

We stayed at Link House for the weekend 28th & 29th November 2014. We were very impressed with the standard of occommodation/service provided by the owner of the property. Our room was very comfortable. Our room was at the frond of the house which meant that we could hear some traffic noise on the adjacent A66. Rooms to the rear...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Link House is a late Victorian Country Guest House, situated on the edge of Bassenthwaite Lake, near the Cumbrian towns of Keswick and Cockermouth, with stunning views of both forests and fells. Traditionally built in the late Victorian age, this country house enjoys stunning views of the forest and surrounding fells including the 3046 feet Skiddaw. The sunny aspect gives a warm and comfortable atmosphere in which to relax and feel at home. We are situated almost half-way between the towns of Keswick and Cockermouth, birthplace of William Wordsworth and the oldest town in Cumbria, just off the A66 at the northern tip of Bassenthwaite Lake. Link House is easy to find. In the quieter part of the Lake District National Park, yet with access to many interesting places to visit such as the Whinlatter Visitor Centre where the Ospreys who nest nearby each year, can be viewed. A peaceful location for the serious walker or for touring by car: everyone claims that — but here it’s true! ... more   less
