Under new ownership since February 2015, The Engine Inn is a traditional Cornish Grade II listed pub situated in a rural area between St. Ives and Penzance in West Cornwall. The welcome here is as warm as the log fire. The pub serves home cooked, reasonably priced pub meals - whenever possible, utilising fresh local ingredients - and a range of wines, lagers, ciders and Cornish ales. En suite accommodation is housed within a separate converted Grade II listed barn, offering privacy, peace and in the case of the first floor room, stunning moorland views. There are regular events taking place, including a weekly charity quiz night and an accoustic night, as well as a monthly open mic night and other live music events.

visited because 2 friends used to live nearby at Crippleease and wanted photos. Apparently Sunday arvos were a great time for music and community gathering. Now the pub is in need of TLC and an injection of community. It could be a good destination pub but not at the moment.

We visited midweek and it was busy enough so I was glad we booked. The beer is very well kept and the food was good honest pub grub (my medium-rare steak was particularly nice). Service was good and the food arrived quite quickly.

Many reviews on here talk about the pub/food and not the accommodation. I wish people would pay better attention to the category of listing on this site! I hear the food is good, but we didn't try it. This is a spit and sawdust kind of traditional pub, and for that is is great

Went for an evening meal last night at The Engine Inn as it looked nice on the website. There were 5 of us as a family. When the food eventually arrived it wasn't bad. The reason we were given for the delay was they were busy and we booked too late (we pre-booked our table at

Is there free Wifi Available
There is free Wi-Fi available in the main pub building but I am afraid that we do not currently have WiFi in the bed and breakfast rooms which are housed in a separate building. Unfortunately, some booking websites still state that there is Wi-Fi available in the bedrooms although they have repeatedly been asked to correct this misinformation.
