We decided to repeat our stay this year in the same property, and never regretted it. The main reason was the convenience of the location and property for vacationing with three children. Everything I said last year remains, the staff did go an extra mile to make us welcome and always giving attention to children in particular. Special thanks to the lady in charge of the beach/ the manager who made the kids feel entitled to cookies even when she wasn't around. This year we stayed in one of the residence apartments which turned to be cheaper then booking two separate rooms.

We'll gladly repeat the experience.

We visited this resort following a very port intensive cruise that ended in Barcelona. It was the perfect place to relax before heading home. Not only was the hotel able to accommodate our early revival, we were upgraded to a duplex suite with oceanfront balcony! The beach was sandy and umbrellas and chairs were readily available. The water was still warm enough to enjoy. We spent two afternoons relaxing in the sunshine at the beach.

We walked along the beach front boardwalk to Calafell (less than 10 minutes) where there were a number of casual restaurants. On our last night, we enjoyed a lovely dinner at Restaurant D.O. at Le Meridian. Beautiful ambiance and great service made this dinner a perfect ending to our vacation.

The front desk staff were extremely helpful, particularly setting up an early morning taxi to the airport on a national holiday. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely hotel and would not hesitate to return on a future trip to the Barcelona area.

We went the first couple days of October, in the hopes that we would have good enough weather to relax on the beach, which we did. The hotel and surrounding area seemed a bit like a ghost town; if I had to guess I'd say it was below 20% capacity. This makes sense given the limited sights and restaurants in the area in the off-season. Given how beautiful the weather still was, we were surprised at how many restaurants had already closed up for the season, as well as most apartment buildings (completely closed up) between the hotel and the where the restaurants begin (about a 10-minute walk).

The breakfast buffet was decent, and we enjoyed the cocktails on the beach and the main bar, though we never had lunch or dinner on the property, preferring to walk along the lovely promenade. I was really interested in riding bikes, which they rent for 12 Euros for two hours (or unlimited biking is included with an upgrade package, which was only 25 Euros in the off season but sounded much higher at other times). There were a lot of them, and they weren't in the best shape (perhaps due to it being the end of the season), but still enjoyable to ride around for a bit.

The room and balcony were very nice, although there should be some kind of night light in the bathroom. It was a little jarring for my partner when I had to turn on the full bathroom lights before entering in the middle of the night, as the switch was outside the bathroom and it was pitch black inside. Overall I'd say the place is a little weird in the offseason, but that there's nowhere else nearby where you can get a comparable beach experience in a hotel (at least not in early October).

We have chosen this hotel for its access to the beach, however we had a bad experience today that the front row on the beach is for 100 euros even if you are a hotel guest.

Yesterday we settled in the front row area without any problems with family. However today early morning, we were told that if we wanted to use the sunbeds in the frontline, we had to pay 100 euros. For a public beach? The hotel is using the public beach and the local people can come and settle down anywhere they want on the beach, even in front of the hotel sunbed area. I think that A five star beach hotel must offer sunbeds and parasols without any charge to its guests. That’s the reason we stay here. Surprisingly, this application and the fee is not stated or written anywhere on the beach or in their website.

I have never seen such a practice in any other Le meridien hotels or Marriotts. Last summer we have stayed in Le Meridien Beach Plaza in Monaco and there was nothing like that. It was totally a much better experience.

In addition, the beach boy told us that they don’t make any reservations on the beach without the payment. However, we saw that they do. They make different arrangements for people. This morning our towels were taken by the beach boy and our sunbeds were changed, because they made reservations for another family. This was not unacceptable and understandable for us.

We are very disappointed by the hotel’s beach. We wouldn’t choose it if we had known beforehand.

Dear TubaYildiz, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I apologize for the confusion regarding the beach access and the sunbed reservations during your stay. We strive to ensure that all of our guests have a clear understanding of what is included in our experience packages and I´m sorry that this wasn´t the case for you. Regarding the sunbed reservations, I understand how this may have been frustrating, and I apologize for any inconvenience it caused. We will certainly review our policies and communication to prevent similar issues in the future. Your feedback is invaluable to us and thank you for bringing this to our attention. We hope that despite these challenges you were able to enjoy other aspects of your stay and hope to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards, Rui Beirao EAM Rooms Le Meridien Ra

The restaurant very disappointing because of the poor quality of some products and the lack of training of employees. The table only had glasses of water. We also ordered wine and were served in the same glass of water. We ordered a watermelon salad but they brought us a salad with French lettuce, half a tomato and a slice of carrot. Then we were told it was the salad from the orchard which by the way was not on the menu. But the serious thing is that the leaves of the French lettuce were the ones that are discarded because the good ones are those of the inside of the lettuce, with a look of past and dirty. We showed it and they brought us another one with romaine lettuce. Certainly we weren’t charged, but I understand that a restaurant with this price and category can’t serve a past and bad looking lettuce, very good rice and coffee only served in a cup of latte, a clear lack of training and professionalism. Obviously I don't recommend it and I won't be back. Mind you, massage a 10.

We spent 5 nights at the hotel paying for half board plus a daily charge of €25 which covered access to the spa, beach club and mini bar. The hotel is very spacious with all the facilities you would expect to find at a 5* hotel - gym, pool and spa. The room was well equipped and overlooked the beach (defined a partial view on the booking site). Each day we enjoyed a daily breakfast buffet plus a nightly themed buffet. The food was absolutely amazing and is definitely a key feature of the hotel. My only slight gripe was the cost of drinks at the bar - cocktails were about £15 each whilst a bottle of water was £5. I never understand why hotels charge these amounts as it simply meant we walked 5mins down the road to a nearby bar and paid a fraction of the cost! The hotel itself is not cheap - we paid around £350 a night but this is justified by the location and quality of food.

We were at the Hotel last weekend, it was a gift they gave us and we were very excited for the moment to come, but everything turned out to be a weekend of relaxation and disconnection, nothing further than we imagined… My partner is very used to it to go on a business trip, and stay in hotels of the same category, he became disenchanted as soon as he saw the bathroom with a curtain… five stars great luxury? Well, we continued through the Spa where we could not fully enjoy the water circuit since four of the jets were broken... and when dinner time arrived we found a buffet more typical of hotels of 3 than 5 GL and a Rice to Señoret with very little gastronomic elegance…. The truth is that it is not at all up to the category and even less GL. It should be noted that the staff's attention was wonderful! Maybe at its inauguration the hotel deserved it, now it doesn't!

5 star great luxury only has the rates. The seafront location is very good. Beach hammocks included in the room rate but OJOOOOO if you want one on the beachfront, you have to pay 100 euros a day. By the way, they're sucissimous and old. And 26 euros parking at the door of the hotel on the street.
Room with bathtub and curtain!!!! Breakfast is quite short in variety but everything is exquisite, real Iberian ham.
The cleanliness very very improveable.
A cold hotel in atmosphere, unwelcoming and already notices the passage of years with little maintenance.
The pool area on a rooftop in annex building, also at hand and with little equipment.
We're not coming back. It's not worth it.

We had a really lovely stay here. The hotel location is lovely by the sea with their own access to the beach and boardwalk to walk to other restaurants and shops. I would definitely recommend a visit here. The spa facilities are incredible and the pool is lovely. The cabanas and seating area is all included for hitel guests by the pool which is really nice to see. The staff were so friendly with the kids by the pool giving them swimming floats. The restaurants are also very good but there are so many on the boardwalk to choose as well. The rooms are lovely as well and very spacious.

There is a lot of open space on the terraces and perhaps would be nice to see a couple of things added on here for entertainment (table tennis table perhaps).

I would recommend this hotel and would love to come back.

We stayed here for 4 days coming from Barcelona, looking for a relaxing getaway from the city. The hotel is a pretty nice property, located in a not so nice area. This "5 star" hotel is truly located in a 2 star area. Upon our arrival, we were roped into the "experience package" and "half board" which were just two of the many packages offered at the hotel. Every package was a scam, even just to get front row beach chairs involved purchasing another one of their rip off packages. The dining was extremely inconsistent, each restaurant was not open at a consistent basis. There all a carte dinner spot became extremely confusing when the packages were involved, leaving the buffet option as our last resort. The food at the hotel is decent, the chef prepared a good spread but we don't prefer buffet style dining. The staff were confused about the menu and the hotels offerings, yet still pushed us to upgrade our dining packages. The food itself was enjoyable, but we were overwhelmed with the dissapointing lack of knowledge from the staff. There was not one restaurant in the nearby area that offered what seemed close to decent dining. We enjoyed the spa services and pool, but felt pressured to use our 10-minute massages which were of course included in the experience package. Overall we had a good time, though the experience was not 5 star. This hotel gives off a all inclusive vibe, which did not suffice as we were looking for helpful staff and luxury services.

Dear guest, For your transportation from the Barcelona Airport to Le Meridien Ra, you may opt of arrange a private transfer through the Service department of the hotel, take a licenced (black&yellow) taxi from the official taxi stand at the airport itself, or for the more adventurous, take a 1,5 hour trainjourney along the coast, from the airport - with a change at the Barcelona Sants station - to the station of Calafell, a mere 5 minute taxi ride from our hotel. Pricewise, for a family of 4, these options range from €180+10% and €150 to €5 p.p. We look forward to being of further assistance here at Le Meridien Ra.
