We are always on the lookout for somewhere to go for a relaxed family lunch. This "no frills" traditional and friendly village pub was perfect. Firstly, it was lovely to find a pub that hasn't been given a "gastro-pub makeover". I phoned to make a booking and to "warn" them we would have our well-behaved 2 year old grandson with...

Popped in for a quick drink whilst staying elsewhere in Cranborne friendly locals pub . Typical traditional village pub no frills, didn't eat here so can't comment, but there was a good menu, which seemed to be reasonably priced. Nicely situated in Village centre, lovely church, general store and fantastic bookshop in Cranborne.

Stayed here for three nights ... 3out of five is for the good food and staff...the room was awful..no one made bed or changed towels..broken light in bathroom ..smell of urine on bathroom carpet. I was sorry this is a pub company house as it will be so hard for the nice people to make enough money to make all...

If you want a picturesque village and a good watering hole, friendly staff and tasty food then you've come to the right place! Cranborne is very popular with walkers and visitors and and this pub caters brilliantly. In the summer there is outside seating and it's all dog friendly. In the winter there's a log burner and its toasty warm....

Enjoyed an excellent lunch here whilst visiting Cranborne Manor Gardens. My omelette was excellent whilst my wife's jacket potato scored very highly. The beer and cider were good and the staff friendly and helpful.

We had an excellent night's stay in this very friendly country pub in a quiet, peaceful village with super local walks. Highly recommended for a short break or just to drop in for a drink and a bite to eat.

Had a great meal at the Sheaf last night, Steak & Ale pie - what a good size portion and wonderfully tender steak. Very happy with service and meal. Wife had the steak and again what a plateful - the steak was just great she said and the pepper sauce wonderful. A good friendly pub with honest food at great...

Lunch. Very welcoming atmosphere. S of A are clearly trying hard to provide filling tasty lunches at a reasonable price. However, (and this may be fluke/unfortunate choice..) all the lunches we ordered simply didn't taste very nice - just being vaguely in the same 'ball park' as my mediocre home cooking would be fine. I feel if they tried their...

I called in to the Sheaf last Monday lunchtime on a cycling trip. It was just right, simple, straightforward and very good value for money with one of the most genuine welcomes I have ever received. Being over 60 I chose the ham, egg and chips from the special lunchtime pensioners menu which at six pounds including a pot of...
