We knew that we were in good hands from the moment that we arrived and tried to check in only to descover that our accommodation had been cancelled. we assured them that we had not cancelled and were very much looking forward to our time there. The staff put us at our ease right away telling us not to worry and that they would sort it out for us before adding we could stay. It took a few days and no small effort for the staff to sort things out. In all the time we were there, we were treated so well that we fell in love with the place. The staff could not do enough to help or advise us on where to go and suggest things to do. This year has obviously taken its toll on the tourist industry and it was very quiet in the resorts with may shops and eateries closed for what looked like the season. Despite this we made the most of it and had a great time. The room we had was very clean and very well appointed, the beds were great and all hygene processes in place were more than adequate. In Niu d'Aus we feel we have found a gem of a place. We will without doubt return. We cannot thank or praise the staff enough.

These peaceful apartments are about a 15 minute walk from Portopetro although it is a bit tricky in the dark as there is not much pavement! Very clean and we had a water view balcony. There is free parking onsite and a small pool. Great value for money and we liked the fact that this was a simple and not overdeveloped resort.

The hotel is located in the picturesque little coastal village of Portopetro. It's kind of an "apart-hotel" with your own living room, kitchen, terrace,...
Beautiful views on the little bay, friendly staff. Lots of nice calas in the vicinity.

I would totally recommend it if you are out on a beach holiday.

This is such a great place to stay! It was clean, in a quiet part of the island and had lovely sea views. The pool was nice and clean and never too busy. The staff were really helpful too. I’d highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for an apartment with a kitchen. The only downside is that guests can smoke on their balconies which is unpleasant if you’re sitting outside on your balcony.

Returned from these apartments late September after a wonderful holiday. I remember my parents had tried many times to book a holiday here since the block was built in the mid '70s but could never find it in any brochure in the pre-internet days. It was therefore a little bit of a surprise to find it on a British website and I booked it out of a slight mixture of curiosity and sentiment. WHAT A FAB DECISION! We booked through Flightline (EXCELLENT!) and the logistics were managed to perfection. On arrival at the apartments we were greeted by a helpful and friendly receptionist who clearly explained how everything works and directed us to the apartment. The communal areas and staircase were spotless, as was the apartment. Upon entering, one immediately becomes aware of the very high standard to which these apartments are kept. Although basic, the soft furnishings were very clean and in good condition. The decor was pleasing and the kitchen area was immaculate if a bit minimal. Although we ate out all of the time, other guests in neighbouring apartments managed to cook all their meals on the two-ring hob, which is all that is offered. The bathroom, all white tiles and marble, was the same standard as an acceptable hotel. The bedroom a good size with enough storage space and I found the balcony, which was large, not overlooked and had a sea view, a great place to bake or chill depending on the time of day. The Niu D'aus is quiet through the day and silent throughout the night. As there are only eighteen apartments, the pool area always has plenty of empty sunbeds and the pool, itself very well maintained, was never what you could call full and usually empty. Unlike some accomodation, the quiet effective air con, the sunbeds and the sat tv, (CNN and Eurosport) were free but there is a charge for the safe The apartments are a ten minute walk from Porto Petro, about eight minutes from Egos but I would set aside a good half hour to walk to Cala d'Or as the marina is quite a size. Walking to Egos to eat at one of the many restaurants, (about 20 to 25 euros per head) is no problem but I wouldn't enjoy carrying bags of shopping and 5L of water back from the nearest supermarket at Egos. Taxis and buses are readily available, with a bus stop being less than 20 yards from the apartment's entrance. We decided to hire a car for the whole holiday and once I'd figured out how it worked, (C4 Picasso with EGS [WHAT?!!]), this was no longer an issue.
Inspite of the tone of this review, I am genuinely not easy to please, yet I can find very little to critisize here. I would have no hesitation in recommending these apartments to a friend but as I don't have any, I'll have to recommend them to all on 'TripAdvisor'. I will return here in the future.
As for Cala d'Or, well, I've been holidaying there since the 1970s. I've seen a few changes, not all for the better, but I still love the place. The atmosphere is very relaxed and always puts me at ease. I have seen a few reviews suggesting that Cala d'Or is tacky and not the "REAL SPAIN". It's true that there are 'Brit-bars' and kareoke towards Ferrera and that is not my scene. But I have never found the sight of other people enjoying themselves offensive. And to be honest, if they want the "REAL SPAIN", what on earth are they doing going to Cala d'Or? I've been to The Reina Sofia, The Valley of the Fallen and The Alhambra and thoroughly enjoyed the experiences. But I go to Cala d'Or to laze about in the sun, to eat well and to just chill out and unwind and for me, it does that perfectly.

We stayed here for 10 days at the beginning of June having booked these apartments after passing by on a previous visit to Porto Petro last year and liking the look of it. We were not disappointed! Lovely Frank on reception greeted us warmly, taking us to our apartment, (no. 10) which was spacious, with a fantastic view overlooking the beautiful harbour of Porto Petro. The apartments are spotless and well equipped for a self-catering stay, although the cooking facilities are limited, but who cares you're on holiday, eat out! The beds however could do with a bit of an update as they weren't the most comfortable! There are only 18 apartments here, so the place is extremely quiet during the day and night - perfect for us. We had to share the pool on one occasion only during the whole 10 day stay! The location is fabulous for getting to Porto Petro (10 mins walk/2 mins drive), which is a gorgeous fishing village with plenty of lovely bars and restaurants and to go to Cala Egos and Cala D'Or (20 mins walk/5 mins drive). I would say that having a car is a great advantage if staying here though. Most guests seem to use Niu d-Aus as a base to go out and about during the days, and in the evenings all lights were off by midnight which meant an extremely quiet nights sleep for all. There's no bar or communal areas in use here, which didn't worry us as we were happy to sit on our balcony with the odd bottle (or 2) of wine! You are left very much to your own devices here, which may not suit guests that expect their beds to be made and clean towels daily, but we were happy to be left alone and do a bit of clearing up ourselves. There were spare clean towels and sheets in the wardrobe if required anyway, so the fact that the cleaner came in once during our stay didn't bother us. I would highly recommend Niu d'Aus for a relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle of the nearby resorts, but near enough to dip in an out as you choose. Overall one of the best holidays we've ever had with plenty of lovely moments for the memory bank! We will be returning and soon!

My husband & myself have just returned from a two week stay at these apartments.
The rooms all face the same way towards Porto Petro - absolutely stunning views - so beautiful!
We were nicely welcomed upon arrival and our apartment was clean & comfortable.
The lounge/dining room was spacious with a small kitchen area. There were two electric rings & a microwave. We found we were limited as to what we could actually cook due to there not being enough room to use two pans at the same time on the rings as there wasn't enough room (in our apartment at least). A combination microwave would be a great improvement!
There weren't any large serving spoons or fish slice to remove anything cooked in the frying pan. We did buy a fish slice as trying to remove a fried egg on the first morning we were there with an ordinary knife/fork/spoon was virtually IMPOSSIBLE. Hee hee - you should have seen it! Talk about a massacre! :o)
We had a kettle & a toaster, adequate crockery, cutlery & glasses (however, no wine glasses), but all of which were spotlessly clean.
We had 3 towel changes during our two weeks & plenty of toilet rolls. However, we did not have a bed linen change, although we did find clean sheets at the top of our wardrobe - so after several nights with no sheet change, we changed our own - problem solved.
Being on the middle floor with a room above, a room below & a room either side, we did find noise levels to be problem, especially at night.
A group of young people kept us awake outside on a lower balcony until after 5am at one point - all retreating to their rooms from about 4am onwards, laughing & talking loudly as they passed beneath our bedroom window & then slamming doors, pulling out trundle beds etc. etc! However, they were staying B & B - & for one night only thank goodness!
There are 2 English TV channels - both news channels (yawn!). Not that we wanted to watch much TV, but when we had the thunderstorms & heavy rain, it would have been nice to have been able to watch something entertaining instead of news, that wasn't in either German or Spanish.
On a more positive note, the balcony was wonderful - such beautiful views - to sit there watching the boats coming & going, down in Porto Petro & then to be able to relax in an evening with a glass of wine & watch the glorious sunsets or the impressive fork & sheet lightening, was just amazing!
As I said, our apartment was clean & comfortable - the whole complex was kept in very good order. The pool & pool area are lovely too & the car park has plenty of spaces for everyone. The free WiFi is a bonus.
The apartments are centrally located between Porto Petro & Cala Egos, both of which have a nice array of restaurants & both being a 15-20 minute walk away. Cala d'Or marina & restaurants are a little further, maybe another 10-15mins & then Cala d'Or itself is another 10-15mins walk. We did the whole walk a few times & thoroughly enjoyed it! Cala d'Or has lots of lovely places to eat - we particularly liked Aquamarina restaurant - having said that, we enjoyed every meal we had in all 3 resorts. The bays around this area are truly, truly wonderful! We loved the area & WILL return.
To summarise - we DID have a great time in these apartments - especially having sourced some earplugs for use at night time (ha ha) :o) - it's just that we happened to have a few issues too. If you are a deep sleeper, then these apartments would be almost perfect. If you are a light sleeper, a TOP floor room would be much better - i.e: no one above you = less noise!
