We had not planned on staying in Puigcerda, but due to recent heavy snowfall, we were unable to make it to our hotel in the mountains of Andorra and needed a place to stay for one night. We are very grateful to the managers for selling us their last room. It was the nicest budget hotel we stayed at on our 2-month long tour of Europe. The bed was extremely comfortable, the room was spacious. We didn't have much of a view but we didn't need one, we just needed a clean, warm, quiet place to stay, and the Hotel Terminus delivered. Thank you! The breakfast was also simple but good.
The French rail strike stranded us on the way from Barcelona to France. We went as far as we could toward the French border and wound up in Puicerda. Knowing nothing about the town, we were afraid we may sleep on a cold bench at a train stop. The town turned out to be a real delight! Beautiful almost Alpine in nature, with diagonal lifts that take you up & down the terraced city streets, for free! Hotel Terminus took our online reservation, and we walked over from the train station across the street. Although no English spoken, we showed our res #, and got a nice, clean room for around 50 bucks. You must be patient, as the front desk clerk also runs the bar/cafe attached. All in all - convenient and a life-saver when you get off the train in the Pyranees with no where to go! :)
Excellent value for money. My room was spotless with a good en-site bathroom for which I paid 37€ for one night. Excellent value and very happy. A really good place to stay with the lifts to the town centre just across the street.
It is a familiar hotel, quite old, very simple furniture, with nice rooms, some have terrace and the interior ones are very quiet with no places to see. From the terrace the landscape is magnificent, the mountains of Cadí and part of Cerdanya, the train station is in front and is quite easy to park the car in the street. Restaurant is out the hotel, at the side and the staff is very kindly. Sometimes we noticed that the personal was insuficient.
We spent one night in Puigcerda and it is a really nice place with an atmospheric old town. There is, however, not a great choice of hotels The Terminus is across the road from the railway station. The route up to the old town is very steep however, across the road from the Terminus is a funicular railway then a lift which makes the journey very easy. The hotel itself is pretty basic. The room was on the small side and the bed was both short and uncomfortable. The bathroom was also basic and the shower did not stay in it's wall fitting. The breakfast was OK. The lady on reception and the guy who worked in the bar were both very helpful The hotel bar was busy with lots of locals stopping by. In terms of cost it was under £50 a night for B&B for the two of us so pretty inexpensive…
