What more can you say beyond all the wonderful comments that have already been left about this place. As others have stated if you are looking for 5* luxury, room service, air conditioning etc then this is not the place for you. If however you want to go back to basics and simply immerse yourself in something other than your...

Just a few cottages. Beautiful and quiet surroundings. Easy access to the Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary. During my stay in Sri Lanka, I have stayed in about a dozen different places. Despite the high standard in all of the country, Taragale place absolutely stands far above all the other places. Excellent service and all the meals I enjoyed at the place...

We stayed here for two nights half board. You hardly know you've arrived as the property has no obvious signboard and just melds into the surrounding area. Traditional clay built bungalows with shady porches overlook the Kalametiya bird reserve - binoculars and spotter book provided. Layout of the bungalows is simple and the woodwork is craftsman built. But it's not...

My wife and I stayed in Taragala Place for 2 nights in late January as part of our honeymoon. We absolutely loved our time there, especially the feeling of peace and isolation. The huts are rustic chic (if there's such a thing) and the scenery from the veranda was beautiful with the sound of wildlife from morning to night. A...

So far from the tourist trail that the guidebook simply doesn't go that far along the coast, this is the perfect getaway from the rat race. More abundant wildlife than anywhere else I've been, from Freddie the peacock to mongoose and giant lizards. Not to mention the bird life on your doorstep. Perfect, relaxing, amazing Sri Lankan food. And miles...

We travelled through Sri Lanka to visit the best birding sites of the island. After visiting many national parcs, especially in the upper land and the rainsforest, we needed a place to calm down and relax. Taragala Place is the perfect place to do just that - we did not have to go anywhere having the birds visiting us in...

My mother and I stayed at Taragala Place for 4 nights and had the most wonderful, relaxed and peaceful time. Becky and Saman were fantastic hosts and have created a lovely blend of village and boutique, it's not fancy and you wouldn't want it to be because its tasteful simplicity is its charm. Adding to this charm is the location...
