Detailed Reviews
Nice campground, better to be away from the highway for the noise, on the outside next to the hill. Nice playground for the kids. Free firewood, people take too much advantage of this, taking loads of wood more than needed, perhaps need to add a pay for wood or token system.

We stayed one night and were quite impressed with the Mountain Shadows Campground. The campsites are huge. Lots of trees and brush around each campsite to make it feel like camping. You can see your neighbours but your far enough away to make a great experience.
The campsite is next to Hwy 1 but the road noice is not noticeable. Lots of wildlife at the campsite as well. We had several squirrels visiting us and the sign at check in says there is a family of foxes living in the campground.
Sites are fully serviced.
Great one night stay! We will have to come back for a longer stay.

What a great campground! So many beautiful trees and you have enough privacy even though you can see the other campers but so private and really nice and clean. The sites are Big and no problems getting in them. We have a 35 foot Toyhauler and so much room for it with truck. Not sure why people complain about highway noise. It’s really not an issue. The staff were all amazing and helpful and very friendly. The bathrooms and showers are extremely clean! Bike trails from the campground which is amazing! Amazing bike trails around Sparwood! Super relaxing campground! This was our first time here and will definitely come back and recommend it.

This is our second time staying here. The campground is clean and campsites are spacious and fairly private. The bathrooms are very clean. The gals at the front desk are friendly and smiling all the time! The only reason for a 4 rating was noise from highway 3. We were in site #25

With private, treed sites. Full washrooms. Complementary firewood. What more could you ask for? A great place to stop for the night and break up a long trip. Try and get a site away from The highway. Though the noise is not bad. The office hours are limited.

This is a very nice campground. Free firewood, free showers and free wifi. The washrooms/showers are kept very clean. The only bad thing is the location, and we were warned before coming. It is right off the highway so the noise is substantial. Otherwise a very nice place. Only 20 min to Fernie.

We reserved a campsite by phone while we were travelling. For the specific dates we wanted I was told there was only one site open. I asked them to reserve it. On arrival we were told the reservation was five days hence! We left and found alternative accommodation. The site was gloomy and looked rather run-down.

We went tenting for four nights. The campground itself is excellent. Free hot showers are generally kept clean, although could use a little TLC. We had a well-lit running water toilet near the tent sites that we were really happy with. The staff was really helpful - we asked some of the young men to help us with our firewood, and they were surprisingly happy to bring us cut wood right to our site. From a value standpoint, I would recommend the campground as long as you pick the right spot.
The tenting sites (we stayed in 43 & 44) were well covered with trees so both rain and sun would have minimal impact on the sites.
HOWEVER ... We were about 2-300 yards from a very busy highway with a hill, meaning that trucks would either have to brake coming down or rev their engines going up. Because the campground is in a bit of a valley, it honestly felt like the trucks were right in our site. At night, it was tough to get to sleep. During the day, we had trouble talking sometimes. All of the tenting sites would have this same problem.
On the flip side, we had friends staying near the registration in a full-service site in their trailer. It was awesome! No highway noise, and a beautiful area.
