Detailed Reviews
Being booked in this hotel for a visit in the Switzerland Plant of the Company although next to the Rail Station i had to wait for small period of time since the hotel was closed for this specific day. As i found out later this date was a day off for the hotel. Nevertheless after calling the responsible came quickly and was really helpful in receiving me. The room was very good and clean service from the Hotel excellent Breakfast i would say poor.

I stayed at Hotel Churfirsten for 5 nights, on the 3rd - 8th May, 2009
Had a double room with private bathroom and balcony for 80 Swiss Francs per night.
I was on a business trip and was advised to stay in this hotel. I arrived late in the evening, the receptionist did not speak any English, so we communicated by sign language. The first room I was given had not been cleaned, however once the receptionist was aware of this I was given another room straight away.
The room was clean of average size with two single beds. There was clean sheets on the bed and was comfortable to sleep in.
Interior décor of the room was very bland and lacked any theme.
Adequate wardrobe space plus a safe to keep valuables in.
There was a small TV on the wall that worked well, there was only one English speaking channel which was BBC world service, the rest of the channels were in German.
The bathroom was of good size and was clean, there was shower but no bath. Good quality towels was provided and soap & shower gel.
The room was cleaned daily, I left my laptop in the room everyday and none of my stuff went missing.
I ate in the restaurant only once, the menu was in German, I had fried spam and chips. I felt the food was expensive .The rest of the week I ate at other places.
Breakfast was provided from 6am - 10am, it was a continental breakfast, consisting of bread, croissants, cheeses, ham, tea/coffee, fruit and cereals. Those wanting a full English breakfast will be disappointed . The staff even though did not speak English where polite.
There is WiFi in the hotel.
The hotel is about 45 minutes drive from Zurich, in a the area called Heidiland, Walenstadt train station is opposite the hotel. The area is amazing very scenic the views of the mountains is breathe taking, you will feel good to be alive. It was nice not to stare at concrete buildings.
The hotel is 3 star and pretty basic, it does exactly what it says on the tin. I would definitely go back to Walenstadt, I want to explore the area properly but sadly I would not stay in this hotel. I feel it was to expensive for what you get.

Very comfortable family run hotel, with high standards, great breakfast menu, excellent evening meals with a speciality menu featuring "hot stones" and exotic meats. Staff are very attentive and helpful.

Right across from the train station, our room #86 on the back side faced the Alps, town, farms up the slopes. The dining was just great, fish from the Lac Wallensee, service superb. The sauna and lounge area really relaxing. Staff most helpful and courteous. The walk about the town enjoyable, quiet, picturesque, peaceful and quaint, delightful pastry shops and restaurant overlooking the Wallensee, especially at sunset and the leisurely walk along the lake shore.

Hotel is next to the main station in Walenstadt what is comfortable if you are travelling by rail, but it means that you are close to railway and street as well. We stayed there for 2 nights, but would not book again as there are much better options around for what you pay here. The staff was friendly, but far away from a professional service, the room clean, but blandly-furnished. They do not even put a bottle of water in the room. The information paperwork refers to the reception line, but there is no telephone installed.
The breakfast was really disappointing. Little choice, no fresh/healthy or local stuff at all, room for breakfast feels like a waiting hall. On top they prepared one table for all guests. The building itself is old and would need maintenance as it looks at many places broken, defective or at least dirty.

Used as an overnight stop, Walenstadt is very Swiss as is the hotel.
I had an enormous attic room, good bathroom and a comfortable bed.
The hotel has a mainly Italian Restaurant on the ground floor and serves a good breakfast.
Friendly efficient staff and a few minutes from the motorway

I visited Switzerland for business and was put up in this hotel by a training provided. I arrived extrembly late so thought I'd have issues.
Nothing of the sort, I was given a key and welcomed to my room. The room was spotless, clean, comfortable and fresh. I even had my own balcony.
In the morning I was given a lovely buffet style breakfast, all part of the deal as standard. Very. Ice and pleasant.
I then ate here in the evenings. Very very very nice.
To sum this place up, it's relaxed, welcoming, clean and deserving of a 5 star rating. On my final morning the kitchens were not open However the staff made me a takeaway coffee and put food into a bag from me. They are so caring and really do care about their guests.
The moment I landed back in the UK, I booked myself back in as I feel the need to go back and get to know the area more.
Nilly highly recommended!! I have nothing bad to say about this hotel!

This is a budget hotel with midrange prices, even for Switzerland. It is in a nice town, near a wonderful lake and, surprisingly for the position, Walenstadt has not many choices of hotels. The room are average with cheap and minimal amenities. The staff was uniformly uncaring and everything collapsed when a tour bus of tourists arrived.

The hotel is nicely appointed and situated right under the Alps! So beautiful!
I had a very large room/suite with a comfortable bed.
The desk help was less than helpful when other guests became a problem to some of the students I was traveling with.
They also lock the doors between the two buildings at night and I had no access to students in the other side.
Wish we could have stayed in Walenstadt longer!
